Check out this highly engaging and competitive mental math exercise for students to build their addition and subtraction fluency! Students will practice a coaching cycle in which each of the two partners have a copy of the paper in front of them (or modified to only the coaching partner holding it) and the student will talk the other student through the 4 mental math operations. Each of the 3 squares has four components that will all be added to each other. (For example if a box has a 12, 23 14 and 20 in it the student will say add 12 and 23 then use the 45 and add 14. Now take your 59 and add 2 to the tens place. The partner without the paper is expected to be solving this in their head and write down the final sum). Throughout the coaching cycle the partner supporting the other is not supposed to give the answer but rather help their partner solve and then offer feedback as they do so. Once complete for "Round 1" the partners swap and the other student completes "Round 2". This can be easily adapted to competitions with timers and races for who can finish first. There are three questions for each student and there are a total of 10 variations included. Each page is numbered and correlates to an attached answer key in the second half of the document. Check out this awesome Easter activity to supplement your easter egg hunt. Students will need to identify the different colored eggs (up to six different colors) and then create a tally chart, pictograph, bar graph, and frequency table. This awesome project allows students to collaborate as a business team and identify a need in their community. Students will write a business plan that forces the students to think about profits, supply, demand, consumers, markets, advertising and more! The file starts with a brainstorm, and then student think through various components and finishes with their formal write-up of the their plan. Attached is a step by step Lesson Plan for teachers. Also there are three variations of each page to allow for seamless differentiation.

In an effort to make learning multiplication tables fun for students, rolling numbers is a great chant format that invests all students! Rolling numbers is a chant/song that goes along with the skip counting for each multiplication table. These chants were all created BY my students so I definitely urge you to use our chants as a foundation and customize them on your own! You are purchasing the lyrics alone. This all inclusive lesson plan pacs a big hit and students will love the student centered exploratory component of this hands on learning! Students will interact with content at four different stations in which they will build, cut, create, and identify polygons, angles, triangles, and three dimensional shapes. You will need some supplies to make this as effective as possible including scissors, glue, straws (pipe cleaners, toothpicks, or cut popsicles sticks will do), as well as construction paper (or colored paper). The lesson plan comes with clear instructions for teachers, station labels, and a student pack with 4 different worksheets to be complete at each station. Based off of the ideas from Shark Tank, students will be highly engaged in this 5 day invention challenge. After being supplied with a variety of random materials, provided by the teacher, students will be tasked with creating an invention that solves some sort of problem. After following some design challenge cycles, students will brainstorm, design, and create their invention. Upon completion, they will create an advertisement that sells their invention and finish up with a presentation of such. Students will love this hands on project and will be highly successful with the included guided components.
