Welcome to the seventh installment of learning about the rooms in the house. This installment is about the cellar and associated objects. Go through the powerpoint introducing the previous leartn rooms of the house with its associated vocabulary and the prepositions first and then introduce the cellar with the associated objects. There is a subsequent quiz with differentiated questions. There are differentiated workbooks available. Level 1 (Niveau 1) - Lower level Level 2 (Niveau 2) - Higher level Get the students to colour in the things in the cellar, unscramble the words and write in the prepositions on the first few pages of the workbook. Next, cut out and stick in the pictures of the images featuring the masculine words and the feminine words. Then, the children need to complete the missing words by choosing the words below. The next few pages contains the listening tasks. Play the attached recording and the children then answer the questions. Then, the children need to draw the cellar, according to the instructions. On the last few pages, they complete the spot the difference activity and then complete the wordsearch. There is a bingo sheet available which could be used as a plenary or the starter of the next lesson. There are now subsequent installments available on my online shop. This resource looks at various European countries in French with their prepositions, such as ‘au’, ‘en’ and ‘aux’. There is a memory game of the prepositions and the names of the European countries in French. You can divide the class up into groups and they can score points for their team for every missing country that they remember. There are also quizzes about the countries and the prepositions used when expressing them. Subsequently, the students then copy out the table and fill in the missing gaps. There is also an accompanying colouring in poster of the flags of the European countries with a wordsearch. Here is a presentation for learning members of the family. It is also good for consolidating possessive words and also gender which is why all the words have been highlighted in either blue or pink. Here is a fabulous resource for introducing 'etre' verbs to younger students. The children have pages and pages of colouring in to do and conjugating all 16 intransitive verbs will keep them occupied for quite a long time and very good practise! This activity can be set during class time or as homework. When the children complete the written drills in the workbook, each letter represents the number of missing letters in a word. This resource is geared towards learners of Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 3. It is good revision for Key Stage 4 learners as well, except I don't think they would appreciate the colouring in as much!

This resource explicitly outlines a very broad cultural element such as the great distinctions as to when to use the 'tu' or the 'vous' form. Students complete the quiz reassuring them of any unfamiliar vocabulary and then they read the cartoon strip followed by another quiz on the story and there are follow up activities on it. This resource looks at phrases which use the verb 'avoir' as opposed to 'etre'. The presentation of this concept has been composed in the form of a story about an eleven year-old girl who has recently moved to France and she doesn't speak French that well, resulting her in frequently using phrases that should use 'avoir', forms them with 'etre' instead. I have devised a powerpoint about the functions of direct object pronouns in the present tense which greatly facilitates teaching and learning as they can be complex at times. It contains several examples of practising direct object pronouns and there is an exercise at then end of the powerpoint which follows.
