PRIMARY FRENCH DISPLAY WORD WALL DAYS MONTHS SEASONS This Primary French word wall display creates an instant introduction to the days of the week and the months and seasons of the year in French, and really brightens up the learning environment too. I like to share essential vocab that we can use in everyday language with my young learners from the beginning of their learning. We use them not only when we’re introducing and practising days, months and seasons, but also for developing French language skills and awareness in general. We talk a lot about the similarities and differences in the different languages, such as the use of capital letters, and we look very closely for cognates too.
There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read - we do lots of guessing, spelling and vocab games for example. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or black wave. I definitely recommend that you print on card stock and/or laminate for longevity - you’ll be able to enjoy your PRIMARY FRENCH DAYS MONTHS AND SEASONS WORD WALL for years to come!

PRIMARY LATIN NUMBERS 1-10 AND GREAT FOR YEAR 7 LATIN TOO
10 differentiated word searches focusing on LATIN NUMBERS 1-10. They’re great for independent learning - I just give my students free choice to choose the level of challenge, making sure that over time, everyone really does challenge themselves! I always give answer keys too - they give students a further opportunity to practise their numbers, and to both self and peer assess. Students at this age are developing learning skills in general, as well as learning Latin, and I’ve found that this particular design of grid and challenge level, works really well as an all-round learning resource.
Word searches sometimes get bad press for being too easy, and with little learning value, but I disagree, and my students love the ones I design for them. I always build in differentiation, with each grid increasing in challenge - the grids are really inclusive, challenging all learners.
There are 5 LATIN-LATIN grids - the prompt words are in Latin, and the grid words are also in Latin. Each grid is progressively more challenging. There are also 5 ENGLISH-LATIN grids - the prompt word is in English, and students have to find the Latin equivalent in the grid. On each grid there’s a number list they have to complete too for extra practice. Each grid is on 8.5 x 11 (A4) landscape format - this format has always worked best for my beginner Latin learners.

KS3 FRENCH PRIMARY FRENCH CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES 198 BEGINNER FRENCH & ENGLISH VOCABULARY CARDS, 99 BEGINNERS FRENCH WORDS & PHRASES WITH A 60-QUESTION MULTI-SKILL QUIZ I think that lessons in the run-up to Christmas provide the perfect opportunity to revisit language we’ve learnt earlier in the school year - my beginner French students really enjoy going back over and consolidating the vocab that they were introduced to right at the beginning of their learning. I created various sets of Christmas-themed vocab cards to get them feeling festive - it definitely works! I tend to have several sets all ready, and keep them in learning folders, so that students can choose which vocab groups they want to work on, though often, they like to work with the complete set, so it’s a good idea to have a couple of sets so that there are enough to go round.
There’s vocabulary from the following word groups in this set:
= Les animaux (indefinite article, all singular)
= Les parties du corps (definite article, range of singular and plural)
= Le temps
= Les fruits et légumes (definite article)
= Les matières scolaires (definite article)
My students really like to learn independently, and I’ve described a range of games that they particularly enjoy. They love the competitive element of the whole-group quizzes, though the pdf version works really well too for small groups - and if you’re homeschooling. There are a lot of cards, which means some prep - if you can, laminate them, not only because they’re far better to learn with, but also because you’ll be able to use them over and over again for years! The quizzes are no-prep, and good to go - they’re non-editable, because of the Terms of Use of the clipart and fonts I’ve used, so have a quick look through before you play - there is a slide version, moving forward with a single click, and also a pdf version, which students can load onto tablets or similar devices for small-group work - that’s really useful for homeschooling too.

PRIMARY LATIN FRUITS WORD WALL My word wall cards are really popular with my younger learners - they create an instant introduction to scrumptious fruits in Latin, and generally give our learning environment a Latin look and feel every day, really bringing the language to life. There are 20 fruits - we don’t actually have all 20 fruits in our learning plan, we use them for developing language skills and awareness in general. I’ve included a selection of genders, including a common gender. I’ve also included several plurals too - this is so useful for beginning discussions about patterns in the formation of plurals. We talk a lot aboutsimilarities and differences in language, for example the lack of the ‘the’ word, and identify cognates and near cognates. We discuss fruits we know and like, and fruits we’d like to try (fig is a particular favourite!).
The fruits are:
= red apple / red apples

SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 FLASHCARDS POSTERS These Spanish numbers display posters / flashcards create an instant introduction to Numbers 0-31 in Spanish, also giving the learning environment fabulous Spanish look and feel. I’ve found that having new and high-frequency language displays also helps promote Spanish as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of Spanish learners. The posters help students familiarize themselves with how Spanish words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. They’re great as flashcards too, a traditional and really successful way of introducing and practising new language. The font is big enough for students to read in various locations in the classroom - I find this really important so that we can get the most out of any particular display - for example we use them for spelling and mental calculation games at certain points in the lesson.
There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag or black wave. Laminate or print on card stock - I always do this with my displays - they hang a lot better, and I recycle them for many years.

GCSE SPANISH KS3 SPANISH KS4 SPANISH PRESENT TENSE AR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency Spanish AR verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for KS3 Spanish students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in Spanish. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom.
The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I definitely find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example, with the Spanish present tense, I encourage students to look for patterns across all the verbs, such as the singular pronouns, including for example the singular formal pronoun Usted form being identical, which is fairly standard, but the conjugation of the formal singular Usted does frequently lead to errors at this stage of learning.
The resource is structured as follows:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Spanish-English and English-Spanish, useful for longer-term reference too
Three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in Spanish across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in Spanish, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in Spanish.
Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding Spanish verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from a Spanish prompt.
Notes and Next Steps template to encourage my students to reflect on their progress, and think about what they can reasonably and realistically do to meet learning targets and progress in their learning

KS5 GERMAN ALEVEL GERMAN ADVANCED GERMAN FUTURE PERFECT TENSE 25 high-frequency German reflexive verbs, including a selection such as sich kaufen to practise the dative reflexive pronoun, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, answer key & verbs lists, ideal for KS5 German and advanced German students who have a sound understanding of conjugation and tense in German, are working regularly with the notion of a range of tenses and mood in German, and have a solid grasp of verbs that are conjugated with either haben or sein in the relevant tenses. It’s actually really useful to introduce the future perfect tense in German fairly closely with the conditional perfect tense, as the patterns are identical, other than the auxiliary tense, and it allows students to compare and contrast the tenses, and to practice both fairly simultaneously - in my experience, students do not confuse or mix up the tenses when they’re learning and using them together. The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage.
The resource has the following structure:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German.
Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:

Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German.
Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt.
Notes and Next Steps sheet, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. Students also note down any new verbs they discover, which enables them to build up a really sound verb vocabulary bank.

The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage.
Grammar books are not consistent with grammatical terminology, so in this context, the conditional perfect is I would have done or I would have been for example. I’ve used hätte & past participle or wäre & past participle as ich würde gemacht haben or ich würde gewesen sein are no longer commonly used in the way that ich hätte gemacht or ich wäre gewesen is for example. The conjugation is structured in the same way as the Konjunktiv II Plusquamperfekt, which is often called the pluperfect subjunctive in English grammatical terminology, though of course, the usage is different.

KS5 SPANISH A LEVEL PLUPERFECT TENSE AR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency Spanish AR verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for advanced KS5 Spanish / advanced level Spanish students who are working with more complex language and texts, includi which feature a range of tenses.. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom.
It’s useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. For example, language learners to often try to conflate what they know about conjugation in their first language, and the language they are learning, and with students with English as a first language I frequently see students using tener instead of haber as the auxiliary, though they have generally embedded the use of haber when they learnt how to conjugate the perfect tense. Students do need to to have a good grasp of the auxiliary verb haber in the imperfect tense to ensure that they can form the pluperfect tense accurately. In terms of the past participle, there are clear patterns in its formation, which students begin to be able to predict accurately: the more they see and use the participles, the more embedded these patterns become.

GCSE GERMAN KS4 GERMAN KS5 GERMAN VERBS 500 high-frequency German verbs, listed alphabetically German-English - a great learning support resource for KS4 German moving into advanced German A Level learners, and can also be given to KS3 German students, providing verb audit tool, and a language road map with learning goals, outlining the verbs they should ideally know by a specific stage in their learning.
I create a lot of language learning reference books for my languages students, they’re really popular with my students, who like to have a bank of reference resources for both initial learning and longer-term revision. There are 22 pages in the book, and all 500 verbs are listed alphabetically German-English. Each German verb is indicated by irr; sein; sep for example, to denote irregular, conjugated with sein, separable. I use the reference book for quick vocabulary quizzes too - either I or a nominated student shouts out a German or English verb, with teams giving the corresponding German or English verb - I’ve found this is a really successful way of avoiding more formal vocabulary tests, while still providing students with frequent opportunity to refresh and embed essential German vocabulary.
For UK teachers, these are roughly GCSE / Standard / age 16 examinations moving into advanced level, all examination boards (AQA, Edexcel, Eduqas, SQA).
We use the Notes and Next Steps template to think about progress and vocabulary knowledge. Students find this really useful, and do like to map and track their own progress. It can be helpful in guiding and informing whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really useful learning activity too - students also note down any new German verbs they learn, enabling them to build a really comprehensive verb vocabulary reference resource.
The verbs are useful for engaging with the following topics and themes:
youth, identity & lifestyle
fashion
culture, customs and traditions
relationships and family
technology and social media
sport, health and fitness
free time, hobbies and interests
entertainment and leisure
food and drink
Germany and German-speaking countries
local, national & international global areas of interest

GCSE GERMAN PLUPERFECT TENSE SEPARABLE VERBS ideal for advanced KS4 German and KS5 German students who have a sound baseline understanding of conjugation and tense in German, are working regularly with the notion of past tense in German, and distinguishing between verbs that are conjugated with either haben or sein in the perfect and pluperfect tense. It’s actually really useful to introduce the pluperfect tense in German fairly closely with the perfect tense, as the patterns are identical, other than the auxiliary tense, and it allows students to compare and contrast the tenses, and to practise both fairly simultaneously - in my experience, students do not confuse or mix up the tenses when they’re learning and using them together.
The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example with the pluperfect tense, students need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary in the imperfect tense, and to get used to ensuring that the past participle is situated at the end of the clause or sentence. Forming the past participle of a whole range of verb groups follows a certain pattern, which students are able to identify and predict the more they work with conjugation.

GCSE ITALIAN KS4 ITALIAN KS3 ITALIAN 500 high-frequency Italian verbs, listed alphabetically both Italian-English and English-Italian - a great learning support resource for KS4 Italian moving into A Level Italian students, and useful also for KS3 Italian students, providing a language road map with learning goals, outlining the verbs they should ideally know by a specific stage in their learning.
There are 48 pages in the book, and all 500 verbs are listed alphabetically Italian-English and English-Italian. There’s also a first person conjugation reference in the present, perfect and imperfect tense, which is really useful for checking which verbs take essere in the perfect tense, and for the past participle. As students become more competent in conjugation, the first person reference enables them to predict accurately other forms of the verbs. I use the reference book for quick vocabulary quizzes too - either I or a nominated student shouts out an Italian or English verb, with teams giving the corresponding Italian or English verb - I’ve found this is a really successful way of avoiding more formal vocabulary tests, while still providing students with frequent opportunity to refresh and embed essential Italian vocabulary.

GRAZIE MILLE E BUON APPRENDIMENTO!
GCSE GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN HIGH-FREQUENCY GERMAN VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE This workbook focuses on 25 high-frequency verbs in the perfect tense. I’ve used these ‘quick conjugations’ for many years with my German students. My students find them to be a great way of practising, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate essential verbs in German. I’ve used them in a range of contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. I tend to give my students regular opportunities to practise the conjugations during the whole schools year, and they find this really useful for mapping their own progress and developing their overall understanding of how German conjugation ‘works’.
I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example with the German perfect tense, students need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary in the present tense - there are verbs that require either haben or sein, and to get used to ensuring that the past participle is situated at the end of the clause or sentence. Forming the past participle of a whole range of verb groups follows a certain pattern, which students are able to identify and predict the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations will certainly help to embed that successfully.
The workbook is structured as follows:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German
Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German.
Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt.
Notes & Next Steps template, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets.
answer key which helps students develop more independence in their learning, also providing them with an additional opportunity to engage with the target language

ALEVEL FRENCH GCSE FRENCH PLUPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency regular and irregular French verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. The workbook is ideal for A Level French students who are beginning to work with more complex language and texts in French, and developing their knowledge of tense and mood in French.
The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. For example, language learners do often try to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language, with the grammar of the language they are learning, and with students whose first language is English , I frequently see students using avoir instead of être for verbs which require the auxiliary être. Students do need to to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary verbs in the imperfect tense to ensure that they can form the pluperfect tense accurately. In terms of the past participle, students begin to be able to predict it accurately, the more they see it, and construct it.

Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills.

MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BONNE CONJUGAISON !
GCSE GERMAN ALEVEL GERMAN KS5 GERMAN PLUPERFECT TENSE 25 high-frequency German reflexive verbs, including a selection of some not essentially reflexive, such as sich kaufen to practise the dative reflexive pronoun, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, answer key & verbs lists, ideal for advanced KS4 German and KS5 German students who have a sound baseline understanding of conjugation and tense in German, are working regularly with the notion of past tense in German, and distinguishing between verbs that are conjugated with either haben or sein in the perfect and pluperfect tense.
