SPANISH ADJECTIVES LIST FREEBIE #1

(0)
BEGINNER SPANISH ADJECTIVES an instant reference resource for students focusing on Spanish adjectives. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a collection of 25 high-frequency Spanish adjectives that I work with at the beginning of their Spanish program - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognize Spanish adjectives, and are confident with the meaning of those adjectives in English, so that they can produce more complex and descriptive language as soon as possible. Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning 25 adjectives all at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing Spanish vocabulary. There are two alphabetical lists - one Spanish-English, and one English-Spanish, as I’ve found that beginner language students prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag (which I tend to use as part of a vocabulary display), and black wave - students tell me that this makes vocab lists more visually appealing, which is really useful when they’ve got a lot of vocab to work through and learn. Have a browse in my store for more Spanish vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning materials, with dollar deals, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies too! This French-speaking countries word searches freebie comprises two differentiated word searches with answer keys, featuring a range of countries where French is an official language. I have a set of 10 differentiated word searches with country, capital city and flag reference list in my store too - the full set description is as follows: Mots cachés are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches with answer keys, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. It focuses on 40 countries / territories where French is an official language. The word searches help students***develop their knowledge and awareness of the Francophone world***, and just how widely it is spoken around the globe. I’ve used the definite article for the countries, so that students can see which countries are masculine, and which feminine, which in turn helps consolidate knowledge of gender in French. In Grids 1-4, students search for a particular country. In Grids 5 & 6, they search for a range of capital cities. Grid 7 gives 16 capital cities as prompts, and students search for the corresponding countries in the grid. Similarly, in Grid 8, there are 16 countries given, and students search for the corresponding capital cities in the grid. Grids 9 & 10 show a selection of national flags, and students search for the corresponding countries in the grid, and also write the country name in the prompt box next to the individual flag. There is a single grid per page, A4 (8.5 x 11) portrait format. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. Each grid has a corresponding answer key, so that students can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. There is a complete reference sheet of all 40 countries, capital cities and flags - you can either laminate this to share around small groups of students, or give one to each student to stick into their learning workbooks as a general longer-term reference resource. I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my young beginner learners of German, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to***link it in their memory with a visual image***, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell the time. Children glue the lists into their German vocabulary books, or file them in their German vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful German vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning. For young and / or beginner German learners, I focus initially on a single time set, and this list shows half past the hour on a single page. This is because in my experience students benefit from a very clear outline of new language and vocabulary, avoiding lots of text on a single page - even my older students who are completely new to German prefer this. When I’m sure that students are confident with half past, I then move on to additional time sets. Students often find half past the hour in German quite challenging, so the focused practice is really useful. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag, which I use for German vocabulary display, or plain. Students also find this How to tell time in German half past the hour worksheets freebie helpful: HOW TO TELL TIME IN GERMAN : HALF PAST THE HOUR WORKSHEETS FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-telling-time-half-past-worksheets-freebie-12865565 Have a browse in my store for more German visual vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning materials, with German dollar deals, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of German numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping beginner German students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in German. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on German Numbers 0-31, but also for sub lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn how to count in German, but also to enjoy working with German, and to feel confident about doing so. All questions are in German, and range in complexity and challenge, both in terms of language and number skills. I’ve used visual prompts such as math symbols to ensure all learners can engage with the questions, and this helps them to begin to infer meaning from context, and to decode cues and prompts to foster understanding. Some questions focus specifically on German math language, which students do not always engage with very often. The level of math is fairly simple, but certainly draws on prior number and arithmetic learning. I’ve labelled the cards A-L, so that if you have the set of 48 task cards ($3), you can use them together. Encouraging students to speak can be quite challenging in the languages classroom, and I’ve found that even my more advanced learners can be quite reluctant, especially if the group is fairly large. I use a range of strategies to promote speaking, and idioms, proverbs and fun expressions which sound quite strange when translated literally are really popular - for example, we have regular competitions to see who can get the most idioms or expressions into dialogues and conversations. This works really well for students of all stages and ages. The posters show the literal translation, which generally sounds very odd, such as this particular idiom Das ist nicht mein Bier - That is not my beer! and the correct corresponding translation. We also discuss other possible translations into English, which helps them understand the concept of translation, and that there are potentially many correct ways of expressing meaning accurately. The posters also lend the learning environment a real German ambiance, promoting the everyday use of German. There are two backgrounds - the German flag looks great, but definitely uses a lot of ink, so you may prefer the poster without a background - this looks just as good! SPANISH CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCH FREEBIE

(0)
SPANISH CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCH FREEBIE Word searches are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This freebie Spanish Christmas word search features fourteen common Spanish Christmas words, which helps to develop students’ awareness of some Spanish Christmas vocabulary and customs, such as la Nochebuena and el turrón. I use this as a prompt to stimulate discussion about Spanish Christmas practices and traditions, and we talk about what students know about other Christmas traditions around the world. The nouns feature masculine and feminine, singular and plural and both definite and indefinite articles, which is a great way of working on and consolidating those grammatical concepts too. There is an answer key for each word search, so that students can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. Answer keys are absolutely essential for me, as they provide students with an additional opportunity to engage with language, help them develop more independence in their learning, and they genuinely enjoy ‘correcting’ each others’ work - additionally, they’re a great teacher time-saver, which is always a bonus! The word searches are in landscape format, as this mirrors the common direction of reading from left to right for speakers of English as a first or home language, facilitating their engagement with the activity. Have a browse in my store for more Spanish Christmas activities, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles, resources boxes, and lots of freebies too! As students become more confident and competent, they begin to rely less on the prompt cards, and answer questions in their own way - and even ask them differently too, if their talk partner is using the answer card as the main prompt. The questions in this freebie are aimed at advanced beginner to intermediate French students, though my more advanced students enjoy ‘going back to the start’ too, particularly near exam time. There’s a reference sheet, with all the questions and answers written out in full - I always provide a reference resource, and my students like to keep them in their learning folders for longer-term reference. When they create their own questions and answers for each other on the question and answer card template, they also find them really useful as a form of writing frame. ALEVEL FRENCH CONDITIONAL PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency French verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys & verbs lists ideal for***A Level French*** students who are working with more complex language and texts, including a wide range of authentic resources, and developing their knowledge and understanding of tense and mood in French. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. Language learners do often try to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language, with the grammar of the language they are learning. Students whose first language is English often look for a direct equivalent of would, similar to when they first meet the conditional tense for example, or they may use***avoir*** instead of être for verbs which require être as the auxiliary. Students do need to to have a good grasp of the auxiliary verbs être and avoir in the conditional tense , as well as the patterns for forming the relevant past participles, in order to ensure that they can form the conditional perfect tense accurately. The resource has the following structure: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills. answer key The product is non-editable in a zipped format. I create a lot of essential high-frequency French vocab lists for my French language students, as they find them really useful, both in the classroom and at home. The lists work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag, which I tend to use for vocab display, or black wave. I use a background for vocab lists quite a lot, because it does make them more visually appealing, which is really important for language learners who do have a lot of vocab to learn. The product is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. Ideal reference resource for students focusing on high-frequency French conjunctions and connectives. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a collection of 35 high-frequency French conjunctions and connectives that students will meet in the advanced beginner French to intermediate French stages of French learning programs, and useful for students beginning advanced French as a vocabulary audit. It’s an important step in language learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognize French conjunctions and connectives, and are confident with the meaning of those words in their first / home language, so that they can produce more detailed and descriptive language and more complex sentences and texts as soon as possible. Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning 35 conjunctions and connectives all at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing French vocabulary, and it is definitely the case that frequent and regular use in real-world practical contexts is far more successful at embedding vocabulary into longer-term memory. There are two alphabetical lists - one French-English, and one English-French, as I’ve found that most language students prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag (which is good as part of a French vocabulary display), and plain white. The list is a great time-saver for teachers too - if you’re preparing resources focusing on conjunctions in French for your students, the list is a really good starting point. Laminating is definitely worth the prep time and extra expense, as the cards will last in great condition for absolutely years. Learning is very successful when students can engage frequently with the activity over a longer period of time - even my more advanced students enjoy revisiting and refreshing prior learning. answer key & recording sheet - I usually have my students use their class workbooks to note answers, and use recording sheets for more formal assessment purposes Have a browse in my store for more French task cards, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning materials, with French dollar deals, special offer bundles and lots of freebies.
