This resource is designed for the current OCR A-level Biology specification. It is suggested that these resources be used at the end of learning the topic on Biological Membranes where the series of different activities are designed to revise and recap the topic. This then leads to using the exam question pack which gets students recalling and applying their understanding to answer the questions. There are mark schemes for both the activity pack and the exam question pack. The mark schemes can be used for either self or peer assessment. The resources provided here will take on average an hour lesson to complete and dependent on the level of the students may take longer. Specific tasks/exam questions could then be set as a homework task to complete. It includes different activities to cover the following learning objectives: The roles of membranes within cells and at the surface of cells. This resource is designed for the AQA exam board. This set of summary activities on photosynthesis will help students to understand the major concepts involved in photosynthesis. The activities include gap fills with word banks to focus on vocabulary; selecting statements to complete a table summarising photosystems (PSI and PSII); two different ordering activities to describe the steps involved in both the light-dependent and light-independent (Calvin cycle) stages of photosynthesis. The tasks break down what can often feel like a very complex topic in a way that scaffolds the content for the learner. Particular attention is paid to the selection of diagrams and illustrations used to help support the learner in completing each activity. This resource could be used as a self-study activity to be set as a homework for consolidation of the topic or it could be used as a revision task to complete in a lesson. This resource is designed for OCR exam board with much overlap with AQA exam board. It contains a worksheet of short answer questions illustrated with diagrams of the different carbohydrate molecules students must be familiar with. Questions have students practicing their recognition and drawing of biological molecules, including condensation and hydrolysis reactions. There are summary activites to complete on simple sugars (glucose, fructose, galactose, maltose, sucrose and lactose) and then a further summary activity on all the important polysaccharides (amylose, amylopectin, glycogen, cellulose). There is a mark scheme included for all summary activities. The resource ends with a selection of exam questions including multiple choice, short and long answer questions.
