David Morse's Resources

Average Rating4.92
(based on 7003 reviews)

I regularly upload resources that I have created during 30 years as a teacher. Most of these are maths, but there are some ICT/Computing and Tutor Time activities. All of the resources are my own and are not available from third-parties. The resources have been tweaked over time and I have had many happy lessons and shed-loads of happy and successful students. At the end of 2017 the TES announced that I was the most downloaded new author and in 2018 another 2 million were added to the count.

GCSE Revision (Differentiation - The Rule For Polynomials)

(2)
Ideal for GCSE revision, this worksheet contains exam-type questions that gradually increase in difficulty. This sheet covers Differentiating Polynomials. This review sheet is great to use in class or as a homework. It is also excellent for one-to-one tuition and for interventions. An interactive version of this sheet is available at https://www.maths4everyone.com/skills/topic-review-sheets-9897.html The interactive version allows individual questions to be selected for enlarged display onto a screen. The answer can then be worked out ‘live’ by the teacher (or student) or a single click will reveal my solution. This not only helps in class, but it is also very useful for a student who is revising at home.

Kindness Quotes (Wall Display, Mini-Cards, PowerPoint)

(2)
Printables and PowerPoints Below is a description of how my lesson would typically go… Start: I have the PowerPoint running as the students arrive. It should go through a few loops by the time everyone is settled. As the PowerPoint is running, I give out the min-cards (one between two/three). Activities: I ask the students to discuss the quotes and arrange them into order so that the quotes that they like the most go at the top. I stop the class and have a discussion about favourite (kindness) quotes and why they like them. I might also ask why some were not liked. I then ask about kindness that students have shown, or kindnesses that have been shown to them. What were their feelings at the time (and now). Using the Internet (if students are allowed phones), or otherwise, students can find/make up some other kindness quotes. Class discussion on some of the additional quotes (I might add new quotes to the PowerPoint) Ending: I display the ‘finish-the-quote’ PowerPoint and go through and see if students can finish the quote (I might go through this a couple of times). I might pick individuals to answer, if too many are shouting out!

Expanding a Bracket 2 (Loop Cards)

(6)
These reusable cards are excellent for one-to-one tutorials and interventions. They are also great when working with small groups or as a starter/plenary for a whole class. For Loop Cards on more than 50 other topics click 👉 www.tes.com/../more.... This particular set of cards allows students to practise multiplying a bracketed expression by a letter. Note that the questions have been carefully selected so that they provide good coverage of this sub-topic and so that the opportunities for students to guess answers are minimised. Colour coding: All my loop cards are colour-coded to indicate the approximate level of the questions: KS2 – red and orange KS3/GCSE Foundation – orange and green GCSE Higher – green, blue and purple Further information: In this download there are four sets of similar cards and a student chooses one of the sets and sorts them into order by answering the questions. Then they try to do it faster using a different set, which has the same questions, but a different sort order 😃 My favourite use of loop cards is for two students to have different versions of the cards and race each other. They then check their answers, shuffle, swap packs and race again (quickest overall time wins). More instructions are included in the download. Cut out card size is approx. 65 x 90 mm. 👍If you like this resource, then please rate it and/or leave a comment💬.
