KS3 Science Stretch & Challenge Booklet

(1)
Welcome to the KS3 science stretch and challenge activity booklet. I have created this to challenge students knowledge and to develop a deeper, more critical understanding of the world around them. The activities inside will get students looking at content (based around Exploring Science but applicable to most curriculum) from a range of different perspectives, force them to think outside of the box as well as getting them to explore new, more difficult KS3 and GCSE content. Contents include: • Scenarios • Word Scramble • Retrieval Roulette • Scientific Literature • Odd One Out • Key Word Scrabble • Thunks • Six Degrees of Separation • What’s the question? • Science & Engineering Challenges • Be Inquisitive • Guess Who? • Dingbats • Code Breaking • Spot the Mistake • What Happens Next? • A-Z Key Words • Code Breaking • Its Not Rocket Science I use this booklet to stretch and challenge the top 50 KS3 students in a project called ‘Science Academy’ which has been hugely successful in preparing students for KS4 as well as improving their academic achievement in KS3 Science. Enjoy.

KS3 Science Induction BUNDLE

(0)
This bundle is aimed at introducing the new year 7 students into KS3 Science at the start of the academic year. I have broken this induction down into 3 lessons: Lesson 1 - Introductions Lesson 2 - Health & Safety Lesson 3 - Equipment Lesson 1 introduces the students to their new class teacher before showing them what topics they will be studying in Biology, Chemistry and Physics within the Exploring Science curriculum. The lessons then explores some simple classroom/lab rules before guiding students through how to set up their exercise book. Lesson 2 explores the idea of health and safety in the lab. The Do’s and Don’ts of learning in a science lab followed but a fun and engaging game of ‘Who Wants to Be A Millionaire’ - Science Lab Edition. Students are then introduced into hazard symbols before engaging in a Minion based lab safety poster task. Lesson 3 gets students learning the names of, handling and drawing a range of scientific lab equipment they will be using during their KS3 experience. These lessons are accompanied with booklet for students to complete during lesson 2 and 3. Enjoy.
