Introductory lessons looking at how to put together an A Level answer. Uses 2008 example texts found in the Edexcel data pack on the Edexcel website https://qualifications.pearson.com/en/qualifications/edexcel-a-levels/english-language-2015.coursematerials.html#filterQuery=category:Pearson-UK:Category%2FSpecification-and-sample-assessments. Looks at how identity is shown in a teenage magazine article vs political speech. Includes template for researching theory. Could easily be adapted for AQA meanings and representations. Includes potential sentence openers/ structures.

Students were shown the video clip of this scene on You Tube and then asked to give their ideas to the questions listed. WIth a LA these questions helped removed the fear of looking at Shakesperian English.

Macbeth Act 5 walk through with LA. Between the slides we read and annotated. This was used to walk through Act 5 quickly in preparation for a formative assessment. Includes work on the tragic hero.

Lesson on using punctuation used with a LA class. Part of the PP was printed as a worksheet.

Lesson (or may last for more) looking at the features of travel writing. Was used with Y12 Edexcel student though could have other uses.

My class find spelling a challenge , therefore I made this sheet to stick inside their books so that they can quickly check the spellings of characters’ names, key themes and useful vocabulary.

The sheet needs to be laminated and used over texts as a prompt for students. This has really helped the confidence of my Y12 students.
