Lesson 5 looking at 7.2c of the specification. The first part looks at the increasing demand for resources based on affluence and attitude. The main part looks at the views of Malthus and Boserup with pupils having a good discussion about who is right and why.

First lesson for Topic 8 (Forests Under Threat) with the GCSE Geography Edexcel B specification. This builds on Topic 7 and looks at TRF layers, plant adaptations and specific animal adaptations linked to the rainforest.

A lesson involving links to the UK climate (temperature and precipitation) while also looking at the causes of Thunder and Lightning. Lots of videos and ideas for pupils to think about lightning safety.

Lesson 5 looks at point 8.2a of the specification - Edexcel Geography GCSE B - Taiga location, plant adaptations as well as animal adaptations. Pupils re-cap, identify, describe and explain these adaptations before linking to the overall Taiga biome. TRF comparisons are considered too,

Lesson 7 looks at the direct and indirect threats facing the Taiga biome. The direct threats are explored before looking at the 3 main indirect threats (acid rain, pests and forest fires). TRF comparison is made.

Lesson 8 looks at methods to conserve the taiga biome. 3 are considered - national parks, wilderness areas and selective forestry. Pupils then consider reasons to conserve or exploit the taiga biome

Lesson 2 for Topic 8 - Looking at the nutrient cycle within the Tropical Rainforest. Pupils begin with re-cap from last lesson before understanding what the nutrient cycle is. Pupils draw the cycle and understand the process with keywords as to why it is ‘the good one’. Pupils then apply to food webs, chains and biodiversity.

Lesson 3 for Topic 8 looking at direct threats and indirect threats to the Tropical Rainforest. Linked to the specification pupils discuss, identify and explain the different type of threats with a link to biodiversity.

Lesson 6 for Topic 8 looks at how the nutrient cycle operates within the Taiga biome. Processes are draw, described and explained with a clear link to climate. Food webs and chains are explored before a look at biodiversity.

Lesson 4 for Topic 8 which looks at the final part for the TRF. Conservation is explored through global groups (REDD and CITES) before looking at local methods of conservation through afforestation etc. Pupils decide which one is more effective for saving the rainforest.

A lesson looking at Halloween. The lesson has a crossword activity, quiz, spellings, catchphrase and bingo! There is a cross-curricular link towards the History of Halloween and an activity for pupils to guess Trick (false) or Treat (true) statements about traditions in other countries. Pupils can then be creative for safety poster designs, pumpkin ideas and stories! Pupils can plot the traditions on a world map e.g. Mexico - day of the dead.

A resource looking at flags - which all kids love in geography! There is an activity re-capping urban and rural followed by a flag Powerpoint quiz. There is an activity to get kids engaged and designing their own flag. The importance of flags is also considered.

A lesson looking at Peru - Gap Year travel or general geography e.g. volcanic activity, Machu Picchu, Nazca lines and volunteering opportunities in the Jungle. Lots of opportunities for a carousel activity or for pupils to plan a trip to Peru/advertise a poster?

A range of activities looking at how Geography links to Christmas - traditions around the world which pupils can plot on a map as well as discuss. Lots of activities to do including a wordsearch, mind map and quiz!

A lesson looking at a range of Wonders of the World. Main 7 are included but natural and historical ones are added too. Video is included as well as information sheets for each Wonder. Pupils can work on their own or as a group to come up and rank the best 4 - give reasons why and compare! Homework before is to give each pupil a wonder of the world and find out for themselves what makes if a wonder.

A lesson that re-caps direction but also look at at map symbols - why they are important, most common map symbols and a quiz. Pupils look at the most relevant ones and evaluate the best map symbols. Pupils write a story and can complete a word search!
