This product includes four worksheets on rationalising the denominator, each worksheet is progressive in its challenge and level of difficulty. Rationalise Worksheet A; This worksheet involves rationalising fractions were the resulting answer does not require any cancelling for Q1-7, Q8 requires the fraction to be cancelling. Rationalise Worksheet B; This worksheet involves rationalising fractions were the resulting answer does require cancelling and some of the surds can be simplified before or after rationalising. Rationalise Worksheet C; Q1-2 require cancelling and Q3-8 require pupils to use the conjugate pair Rationalise Worksheet D; this is a mixed sheet which progresses through all of the above style questions. Worksheet D is available as a free sample here, check it out. All our resources come complete with instructions, solutions where appropriate and ideas to stretch and support pupils. Part of the new 9-1 GCSE, this set of four ‘Tick or Trash’ worksheets require pupils to evaluate functions by substitution into both linear, quadratic and composite functions The four worksheets are; Worksheet A; This worksheet has 10 questions; 8 questions involve evaluating the three functions numerically and 2 questions involve exact (Pi) and algebraic evaluation. Worksheet B; This worksheet has 10 questions; 4 questions involve evaluating the three functions numerically and 6 questions algebraically. Worksheet C; This worksheet has 10 questions evaluating composite functions numerically. Worksheet D; This worksheet has 10 questions evaluating composite functions algebraically. Test your students’ ability to spot mistakes and develop their understanding with this activity. Pupils are given two different answers to a question and have to determine which is correct. They then have to explain what misconception has led to the incorrect answer. Full instructions, ideas for extension, and a solution are provided in the resource - what more could you need? Fortune Teller activities, or Cootie Catchers in the US, are a great childhood game remodeled to test mathematical skills. Check out our blog post (link in document) for further information. In this cootie catcher there is one cootie catcher sample. This has eight questions requiring students to find averages (mean, median, mode and range) from a set of data presented in a list. The corners of the cootie catcher indicated the differentiation which is to three levels (easy, medium and difficult) and the fourth corner is a “pot luck” section. This is a sample resource comes complete with instructions, ideas for stretch/challenge and two blank versions of the fortune teller (cootie catcher) for challenging pupils to create their own. Updated This resources has new content added. It now includes one set in the traditional fan and pick style (i.e. answer on the question cards) and a second version of the question cards with the answer removed. Therefore giving more flexibility for how you might use them with your students. Previous buyers, please re-download to access new content. Fan and Pick activity promotes cooperative learning (Kagan strategy), by creating situations for discussions around finding the correct answer and not just what the answer is. They can be used as a plenary activity to determine what learning has taken place, used to determine pupils prior knowledge to a topic and of course great for revision. Each Fan and Pick set has a set of 12 question cards, each card has three questions differentiated by hotness. The sequences questions here cover finding the next term, the nth term, generating a sequence and deciding if a term is in the sequence; including linear, quadratic and Fibonacci sequences. Alternatively use the second set (with answers removed) as differentiated question task cards. Full instructions and solutions are provided along with suggestions for stretch and challenge. This download includes a starter activity and main translation mystery activity. The starter is aimed at introducing translations through 10 quick fire questions on describing translations. Pupils can answer on mini whiteboards; use discussion to introduce and model that the movement left/right should be given first, followed by the move up/down. The main activity “Translation mystery” is differentiated to two levels in which pupils use the clues to plot and translate shapes; level 1 uses words e.g. “left right” where as the second level uses vectors.
