Inequality Graphs

(143)
2 Lessons, one on drawing graphs to show regions that satisfy 1 or more Inequalities. The second is in reverse, being given a region and identifying which Inequalities satisfy it. Includes sheets that go with the lessons. The pupils will need to have covered the equation of a straight line in order to do lesson 2. (65)
This set of 9 powerpoints have been designed to match the Edexcel Core Pure Mathematics Year 1/AS textbook (for Further Maths), and have largely been adapted from my previous A-level resources. Every chapter is covered, and within are explanations that could be used to teach lessons or be shared with students via a digital classroom. There are also some Autograph files included - the hyperlinks in the presentations should work if these are placed in the same folder as the powerpoints themselves! Plotting Quadratic Graphs

Plotting Quadratic Graphs

(102)
Pupils are shown how to plot Quadratic graphs including both positive and negative x-squared coefficients. Has a few examples of where they may be used to model motion. If you like this resource then please check out my other stuff on here!
Prime Decomposition, HCF and LCM
Owen134866Owen134866

Prime Decomposition, HCF and LCM

(66)
Calculating the HCF and LCM of 2 (or more) numbers by using Prime Decomposition and Venn Diagrams. Includes some worded questions and follows on from the other Prime Decomposition lesson I have on the TES site. If you like this resource then please check out my other stuff on here!
Angles in Polygons
Owen134866Owen134866

Angles in Polygons

(35)
A lesson covering rules for finding interior and exterior angles in polygons. Includes a worksheet with answers and a load of challenge questions from the UKMT papers. I really like to use this with the excellent 'Angles in Polygons Challenge' worksheet uploaded by the legendary Tristan Jones! https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/angles-in-polygons-challenge-6443005

Prime Decomposition

Prime Decomposition

(41)
Single lesson on Prime Decomposition, including worksheet with some different types of pattern to spot, such as powers of decomposed square numbers. Also a simplified explanation of how banks use Prime numbers. There is a link in the plenary that shows (at least for my classroom PC!) that computers find it hard to break down even numbers with 8+ digits, never mind 200!) Areas of Flags (with circles)

(27)
A while ago I uploaded a set of resources on calculating the areas of shapes on flags, see here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/areas-of-flags-6327719 A number of people messaged me asking if I had one for circles - and here is is now! I had to get creative with finding flags I could use, and I’d recommend that you have already had a lesson on Area and Circumference before this, as the questions get very challenging! Thank you to @1hannahjones for making a number of corrections and clarifications! Fibonacci Algebra

Fibonacci Algebra

(35)
Powerpoint and sheet on using Algebra to solve problems relating to the Fibonacci sequence. The second type of question is very impressive if you get the hang of doing it mentally in front of a class! If you like this resource then please check out my other stuff on here! EDIT 21/5/13: Added a better 3rd question to the presentation and worksheet, as well as an answer sheet! EDIT 2/6/13: Corrected the animation order on the starter!
Isometric Drawing
Owen134866Owen134866

Isometric Drawing

(34)
Pupils learn about plan, front and side elevations and how to draw objects on isometric paper. The worksheet has an investigation into making objects with 5 cubes, as well as some challenging questions on building objects based on their elevations, with as few cubes as possible. Please note that the questions in Section B and the 'impossible shapes to make' are not my own and have been taken from other sheets found online. I have also included a word document of isometric paper for 'emergency' use :) If you liked this resource then please check out my other resources on TES! https://www.tes.com/resources/search/?authorId=2095097
Simultaneous Equations Introduction

Simultaneous Equations Introduction

(26)
This lesson is intended as an introduction to Simultaneous Equations, where students solve picture-based puzzles without using formal Algebra. The idea is that the following lesson they can see equations given algebraically and see how it is effectively the same thing! If you liked this resource then please check out my other stuff on TES! https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/Owen134866
Simultaneous Equations Graphically
Owen134866Owen134866

Simultaneous Equations Graphically

(26)
This lesson will show students how plotting two linear equations in x and y allows them to solve simultaneous equations. The powerpoint has a full explanation as the starter and there is a sheet of questions for students to practice. Before doing this task they should have covered algebraic versions of simultaneous equations, as well as linear graph plotting. More Maths Group Challenges

(23)
I'm a big fan of the excellent group challenges created and uploaded to the TES by Chris Smith (https://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/Maths-Group-Challenges-Puzzle-Sheets-6179530), so much so that we have built them into our scheme of work. However, we ran out, so I made some more. Please let me know if there are any mistakes! The puzzles are mostly things I have found on the internet and in books so are not my own work. If you like this resource then please check out my other stuff on TES! :)
