Lesson objective: To solve problems involving the relative sizes of two quantities where missing values can be found by using integer multiplication and division facts. In this lesson, students will be introduced to ratio and proportion and it will be explained that ratio shows the relative sizes of two or more values and proportion is a part, share, or number in relation to the whole. Through an engaging powerpoint they will first learn how ratio and proportion are used in real-life contexts and will begin to write the ratio and proportion of shaded parts of shapes/ objects. They will have a go at differentiated questions before moving onto the differentiated activity sheets. 3 levels of challenge and provided along with the answer sheets. Duration: 1- 2 hours.
