El año pasado fui a España. A resource for a whole lesson including a higher reading text with language exercises and a challenging translation task. The text includes lots of extension language including subjunctive and imperfect subjunctive phrases which pupils can then recycle in their own work. Standalone resources for a whole first lesson, or lessons, in Spanish to introduce the basics, including a knowledge organiser of key vocabulary. There is also a handout to use in lesson that goes together with a 14 slide PowerPoint and includes activities to introduce pupils to: greetings, saying how they are, giving their name and saying where they are from, numbers, age and the alphabet. There is a translation exercise with a focus on key adverbials of time and it introduces the construction "pasar + gerund" for time. Resources on the topic of food and drink in the future tense: ¿qué vas a comer mañana? There is a resource with grammar, translation and reading activities to recap the immediate future tense construction that will allow pupils to scaffold their answers to the question above. There is also a Quiz Quiz Trade game, for pupils to use to recap this grammar point and vocabulary. (Each pupil has a slip and they quiz each other on either the Spanish or English and then swap and find another person to quiz). There are also empty grids into Spanish and English for translation practice, as a plenary task or homework.

This is a battleships game for practising the subjunctive with an A Level group or G&T GCSE group. Pupils play battleships by marking 5 ships of different lengths (5 squares, 4 squares, 3 squares, 2 squares, 1 square) on their own grid. They must then use the subjunctive with the set grids to guess where their partner's ships are. Pupils can either just use the subjunctive trigger and conjugate a verb or they could create sentences which uses the verb, for example creating sentences on the environment or pollution. You can adopt this worksheet to include different infinitives and constructions, perhaps to revise key topics.
