The person with the green card begins first. They read their card and the person with the answer reads theirs.

Differentiation: Put children who are not so confident (adding and subtracting numbers to 20) in pairs so that they can work together.

Game rules:

Start with any number e.g. 9 (highlighted in grey at the top of ‘one’ of the cards)
The child holding this card must say the question written on their card (making sure everybody can hear) e.g. ‘What is 4 + 3?’
The person holding the answer says,* ‘I am 7’*
The game continues until you end up with the same person who started (hence why it’s called a loop card game)

Instructions:

Give out the cards (1 per child or 1 between 2).
Ask any child to start by reading out the description at the bottom of their card. E.g. ‘I have one side and it is curved’.
The person who has the card with the answer on says, ‘I am a circle’. They then read out the description on their card and the game continues until everybody has had a go.
