A 5 day lesson plan based on instructions. Three of the days are based on children evaluating and creating instructions through video clips and practical activities (making paper airplanes and origami fortune tellers). Two of the days are focused on comprehension and handwriting. The children will be taught how to write successful instructions by understanding that they need to use clear, simple English for their reader to understand clearly what they are directing them to do.

This is a busy opening lesson on Earth, Moon and Sun topic. It requires the sorting of the scientific vocabulary as well as an interesting insight into the topic. This resource includes a presentation, plan and differentiated activity.

I used this as a class assembly this week and have made the necessary changes to the script that I made throughout rehearsals. This script shows what we learned as a class through story-telling and acting out the myth of Icarus and Daedalus and the legend of the Loch Ness monster. (Scottish Accents included). It is done in the form of Myths and Legends X Factor with judges and a presenter. Both parents and children adored it.

My class assembly that I did today as we have been studying fairy tales for the last 2 weeks. Cinderella can seem a bit babyish for Year 4 students, however we made it a funny version and the audience were in tears laughing. This script is funny, modern and is easily adaptable. I made one of the stepsisters a boy (wears the wig etc) and the audience loved it. My prince was also a girl and she as fantastic, put on the deep voice and all. Included is: The script (which is easy to follow and has stage directions included) The layout in which I sat the children The downloads of the music I used An invitation to give to the parents. Both the children and the parents adored the assembly. A personal highlight of mine is that the children sing working 9-5 by Dolly Parton- amazing.

A 6 day plan on formal arguments, encouraging children to think about moral dilemmas. Children will be introduced to the idea of moral dilemmas and arguing for and against both in a balanced argument. This resource involves teaching children how to write a balanced argument in a progressive manner. Children will initially watch clips on how to argue in a balanced style. As the week progresses, children will be gathering information needed in order to write a balanced argument for themselves. There is a planning period as well (with resources) to allow children to properly plan their argument, as to ensure it’s balanced. This also gives children the opportunity to edit and correct their small errors. There is elements of arguing/debating orally also, which taps into speaking and listening. By the end of the week, my class were excited to write a balanced argument on whether it is a good idea or not to keep a giant bag of cash that you found at the bottom of your garden. They were even more excited about turning it into a debate, which can easily be achieved. This resource is saved within a ZIP file. This is a weeks worth of planning, resources and presentations based on imaginary settings. Children will be creating their own imaginary world in which they will need to know inside out to write about. To make it more interesting, children will need to pretend that they are Horrid Henry entering their own imaginary land. I taught these lessons this week and they worked very well. Children loved creating their own worlds in which they could bring Horrid Henry into it. There is planning stages to these lessons also which allow children time to edit their worlds for the ‘big write’ at the end of the week. An introduction into the Vikings. It’s very exciting lesson as it involves role-play and physical moving around the classroom to “spy” on the Vikings. My class got a lot out of it.

The Heliocentric Model- this lesson teaches children about another model of the Solar System in which was believed by another Ancient Scientist. This lesson requires children to make a jigsaw of the model and figure out which planets have been included/left out. There is also an aspect of role play, for children to act as the planets rotating around the sun. *LESSON PLAN ONLY** I have chosen to only upload the lesson plan here as sometimes, people may want to use their own resources. I will upload them at in a different resource in my shop. This lesson plan clear, detailed and differentiated extremely well. My differentiation groups are labelled bronze, silver and gold, which are referred to daily on the planning. The objectives covered on this plan are: *What are multiples and factors? *What are prime numbers and prime factors? *What are prime and composite numbers? *How do I solve problems involving multiplication? *How do I solve problems involving division? I have taught these lessons myself, and the children achieved the lesson objectives at their own level of ability.

This package includes a lesson plan and a wealth of images and templates to carry out 4 different art activities. We spent the full day focusing on art from different artists such as Picasso Monet Romero Britto and many more. The learning objective is: How do I create different tones of one colour using different media, exploring shape and pattern? Success Criteria: I can discuss the work of artists. I can mix paint to create different shades of blue. I can keep the colours clean by using a clean brush to mix. I can make an observational drawing I can combine pastel colours to create an illusion of colours mixing. I can create a repeating pattern using tone to add depth. Children will create 4 different art pieces using many different techniques all based around our theme of the colour blue.

***LESSON PLAN, NOTEBOOK FILE AND A WEALTH OF IMAGES*** This package includes a lesson plan for 4 activites based on the book 'Dinosaurs and all that Rubbish'. Our theme for the day was purple, so we engaged in 4 different activities trying to incorporate both dinosaurs and the colour purple. Very practical, hands on art in which the kids loved. This was a fantastic week of English lessons, including lots of speaking and listening activities, resulting in effective writing. This genre was studied through the story ‘Journey to Jo’Burg’. To which we read the first two chapters online (pdf linked in planning) and ended up writing the third chapter as our ‘big write’ including an issue and dilemma. Lesson 1: Children explore the terms issue and dilemma by engaging in a conscience alley, forcing the child acting as the main character to make a decision based on a dilemma. (thoroughly enjoyable). Lesson 2: Children read through the chapter 1 and 2 (linked in planning) and underline dialogue, action and different words for the word ‘said’. This allows children to see the exact style used by the author in order for them to recreate their very own chapter 3 in the style of the story. Planning is also done in this lesson. Lesson 3: The success criteria is shared with the children and they are then allowed the remainder of the lesson to finish off their chapter 3. The end product was fantastic! The children came up with their own title for their chapter and really took on the style of the author, alternating between dialogue and action. It was fantastic! Shared/Guided Reading lesson based on the story ‘Journey to Jo’Burg’. This was used to inspire these kids and completely engage them with the story. My idea is for the starter, display three questions (see planning) and get them to write their answers in groups on post-it notes. Then stick them up on the IWB on a picture of South Africa (also in resources). This will engage them straight away with the text and what’ll happen. Then you’ll move on to explaining that the idea is to focus on what a dilemma is and what it is in this chapter. (The chapter is linked on the planning and you can download it as a pdf). The children should have a hard copy in front of them and together you will make a success criteria of what a good, interesting reader sounds like. Get them to critique you reading in a boring way. Children to sort pre-made laminated statements into positives and negatives about going to Jo’Berg. In groups children will then engage in a conscience alley (role-play) to thrash out both sides of a dilemma. You can do it as a whole class or small groups either. Children really get into the story this way and feel they’re helping Naledi choose her dilemma. Great, engaging lesson. Really enjoyed it!

A fun, engaging week of lessons based on writing a persuasive leaflet to encourage people to come Visit Qatar (the home of the World Cup 2022). This resource includes: A detailed, differentiated lesson plan. It engaged both boys and girls and we did it in pairs. Very enjoyable :)

In my class, I got really fed up of using the carousel for teaching guided reading. I felt only 1-2 groups benefited from it, while the others were in engaging in monotonous activities. The idea behind this is to engage in whole class reading/discussion about a picture or text and answer only 3 questions in the CAR format: C- Choice of the Author A- Always Infer R- Retrieval Included in this pack is: 6 different activities to use CAR technique How to use page Display of CAR to remind children what the different letters stand for.

After hours of reading and PD on Pie Corbett’s Talk4Writing, I decided to plan my English lessons around his style of teaching. The idea behind it is fun filled, active and different so my children and I absolutely love it! Included: 4 day, detailed lesson plan (differentiation included). Power Point of the features of a report. ‘Who killed King Tut’ text resource (colour coded). ‘Boxing it up’ plan Report starters- which allow the children to get into the mind of writing report style sentences. Text mapping opportunities- which allow children to act out and DRAW the entire report so they can recite it, thus learning the sentence structure orally. I have put a lot of detail into the lesson plan, so it can be easily followed to apply this style of teaching to your English lessons. The idea behind it is: Week 1= Imitation Phase. In this week, children need to learn off a text to fully immerse themselves in the style of writing, structure, language etc. This is done through actions and also text mapping (drawing pictures). Only when children fully understand a text type, should they begin to write. The writing of a report will be done at the end of week 2. (This resource is only week 1). By the end of the week, your children should fully understand the features of a report, and should be able to recite the whole thing using their text map. It’s lots of fun and a fantastic scaffolding for children to understand before they write. Give it a try!

This is a follow on lesson from:Non-Chronological Reports: Understanding the features. Children cannot and should not be writing their own report without first of all familiarising themselves with the text type. Having completed that step, they can then begin to think about planning their very own report. Once children can do this, they will be able to write their very own version. They are encouraged this week to change one part of the report in order to write their very own version. For example: instead of ‘Who killed King Tut?’, it could be ‘Who killed King Thor the Viking’ children will have to adapt the report they know so well to make it their own. Now that they have a basis to go off, their report will be much more successful.

6 Guided Reading Assessment/Guidance Sheets to use with your younger readers. These sheets can be printed for each child to keep track of their reading abilities/areas needed to improve. How to use this product: Each week, I use a new assessment focus (AF). They are marked as *AF1- decoding of the text. *AF2- retrieving information. *AF3- deducing and inferring information. *AF4- structure and organisation of the text. *AF5- comment on the writer’s use of language. *AF6- to identify the purpose. *AF7- to relate the story to others. Each sheet contains 4-5 ‘I can’ statements in which you can shade in to mark where each child is at in terms of reading. By using one assessment focus per week of guided reading, you can see real progression in the children’s understanding of the particular questions you’re asking. Beside each ‘I can’ statement, I have put a heart shape in which the teacher shades: Green: if the child is secure in that area. Orange: if the child is emerging in that area. Red: if the child is un-secure in that particular area.
