Complete lesson that links to Chapter 1.1 of the Edexcel curriculum on Anglo-Saxon and Norman England curriculum: Anglo-Saxon society. There is no textbook necessary for any of these tasks. This lesson consists of engaging and in-depth student led activities that allows students to investigate the Anglo-Saxon social system. There are extension tasks for MABLE and a writing frame that shows students how to answer the 'Describe two features ...' question. This lesson looks in depth at: - the Anglo-Saxon hierarchy - the power of the monarchy - Anglo-Saxon government - the Anglo-Saxon economy - the role of the Church. There is also a glossary for students to complete that lists all the keywords in chapter 1. An exam guide on how to answer each question for this paper is also included. However, there are detailed resources included and the textbooks are not necessary for any of the activities. This is a very lengthy and complex lesson that will require more than a double lesson to complete all of the activities. The worksheets can be completed as homework activities. Theses resources are created to develop independent learning in students and do not rely on slides to give students knowledge. Rather, the resources get students to think about each topic in terms of chronology, significance and causation through carefully crafted tasks. Detailed lesson that corresponds to Chapter 1.3 of the Pearson Edexcel GCSE 9-1 textbook. Although this textbook is necessary for some of the tasks, the Hodder book should have the same content, although the page numbers will be different. There are numerous activities and exam guidance within this lesson. It is a very long and complex chapter, dealing with numerous pieces of legislation, customs duties and economic impacts that introduces some complex terminology. I would advise spending 3-4 classes on this chapter and going slow. There will be a lot of explaining to do, particularly with regards to the section on customs revenue. This lesson looks at the appointment of Gorbachev and the reasons for why he wanted to reform the Soviet Union. It then goes on to examine the events that led to the loss of Soviet control in Eastern Europe, the end of the Warsaw Pact and the fall of Gorbachev.
