A scene by scene study of Act 4 of Shakespeare's 'Macbeth'. This is designed for GCSE teaching and includes a range of activities including: matching quotations exercises, creative responses, questions that demand higher level thinking, summaries and notes to advance engagement with the overall structure, both of this scene and this scene in the context of the whole play.

With few revision papers available for use this is another 19th Century Fiction Paper based on the novel 'Lost Hearts' by M R James. the resource includes a mark scheme and indicative content. This extract is a ghostly tale and a good one to use for analysis of tension/setting rather than characterisation. This is a very accessible paper and would be useful practise for both KS3 students doing a 'Supernatural' Unit of work or for KS4 lower ability to build confidence.

This is a lesson that can be used as a stand alone lesson or built into a unit on Dystopian Fiction that covers the skills required to access the (9-1) strengthened GCSE Non Fiction Reading Paper. The lesson works slowly through each question type offering tips and guidance on how to access secure grades at GCSE level. Two non fiction articles are included.

This lesson is highly differentiated, with learning goal sheets to ensure progress is evident and checked/reviewed at several checkpoints during the lesson. It also includes a detailed lesson plan and group activities that are then jigsawed to ensure all students are responsible for their own learning. I have alphabetised the poem for use as a starter activity and created a more accessible question sheet for students likely to achieve grade 2/3. This is a really good lesson to show the students working harder than you do!

This Literacy Programme is 2 of 3 for use with year 9s across an entire term and forms part of a newly written programme that builds on the strengthened demands of the KS2 literacy skills and the Year 7 and Year 8 Programmes also available on TES. This resource includes a PDF version of the programme plus an Adobe version that is editable so that the name of your school/behaviour policy can be incorporated into the documents. The powerpoint presentation is used to test the weekly skills gained by your students and allows you to track progress and build in additional intervention for areas of shortfall post completion. A stand alone lesson that takes students through a detailed analysis of the language techniques used in an extract from The Handmaid's Tale with regard to its position as a Dystopian Fiction text. The lesson is fully differentiated with stretch and challenge tasks whilst developing students independence.

This is the first of several lessons on this new option on GCSE syllabuses. These lessons are differentiated and supported whilst also offering challenge and options to create revision resources in preparation for the final examinations. These lesson would work as well for KS3 groups who need a strengthened syllabus in preparation for the more robust (9-1) specifications as for KS4 students preparing for exams. This lesson takes you through a theory based lesson using music to learn quotations from texts. This lesson has proved to be a highly enjoyable, alternative and effective approach to last minute quotation learning, even for students who struggle to retain information. Using this method of learning quotations, students are able to write more sustained responses and in turn access higher grades. If you find this useful please do leave a review. This lesson starts with an engaging visual activity that engages students with the concept of tone in art before then asking them to apply this thinking to some literary extracts. The lesson continues to draw on the DIRT strategy to improve and assess work and establish success criteria for using the right tone when writing an article. This is an excellent revision lesson to refine techniques for writing Transactional Writing pieces for the GCSE exams.

This lesson is carefully scaffolded to ensure that students struggling to achieve a grade 5 are fully supported in their learning. Exemplar material is offered, regular reinforcement of learning and steady building of skills are all used to ensure all students are able to write a grade 5 speech, should this come up in the exams.
