These booklets each contain over 40 reasoning and problem solving questions suitable for KS1, KS2 and KS3 classes. These are the questions that we have been putting out each day in March 2016 on Twitter in the run up to SATS. The answers are provided with some simple notes at the back of the booklet and for some problems supplementary questions and variation has been provided. There are two problems for KS1 and two for KS2. In KS1 children have to using four rules to solve two problems. At KS2 children have some pretty tricky number problems to solve. Today's problems are ones that require children to think carefully about what they have to do. There are two problems for KS1 and two for KS2. In KS1 problem children have to use information about two plates of food to work out the cost of a fried egg. They then have to work out time problems. At KS2 children potentially need to use all four operations and the problems can be solved using bar modelling. The first one is similar to the train and football one from last week, except the picture doesn't make the approach as obvious.
