A set of word searches and associated sorting activity to help develop knowledge of migration to the British Isles –both individuals born abroad and nationalities that have provided many migrants to Britain over the centuries. Has twenty of each of a range of individuals and nationalties… Word search and mini quiz combined A more challenging version of the always popular activity (even for adults!) There is a set of four different word searches – two on individuals , two on nationalities. However before finding the ten people or nationalities events you have to use the clue to work out who the person or nationality it is that you are searching for. Each word search & quiz comes in three different versions (the answers are the same each time); providing different levels of support/difficulty. Each quiz has the same clues but one has the first letter of the answer; one has the number of letters in the answer and one has both the first letter and number of letters. Ideal for use as a reinforcement activity or homework task -maybe even for a staffroom challenge! P.S There is also a set of ‘traditional’ word searches featuring the same people/nationalities Sorting challenge : This uses the same people/nationalities and clues as in the word searches. There is a set of printable ‘cards’ which can be used for sorting or matching tasks (such as the matching pairs game) – each person or event is on a separate ‘card’ from its clue (organised in sets of 10).

An information resource which has a range of people and events all associated with Wales. For each day there is either an event or person linked to that day . The people range from the famous such as Dylan Thomas to the less well known such as Frances Hoggan. Similarly the events cover a range from the rebellion of Owain Glyndwr to the first person to swim the Bristol Channel. On the power point there is a picture of or associated to that day’s event/ person so acting as a stimulus resource especially suitable for use in assembly or tutor time.

Updated for April 2024 changes to MLW and NI as well as to reflect price changes. A set of worksheets that will help students prepare for the world of work and living away from home. The first sheet looks at income from employment –considering the main deductions that lead to net pay being less than gross pay. The worksheet takes students though the process step by step, calculating the deductions from a national living wage job. The second sheet considers main household expenses such as rent, council tax and insurance. Again the worksheet takes a methodical approach, allowing students to see how quickly their income will be spent. Ideal for use in PSHE and functional maths –calculator required!; Also available as a separate resource is a pair of power point presentations which go through the same information showing students how gross income is reduced and basic spending.

With the approach of Christmas most children are getting into the holiday spirit but they still need to be challenged. A selection of a range of Christmas themed activities and challenges. These include number, word and factual/knowledge based activities -all on the seasonal theme… For example matching up panto characters with their panto, spot the difference on an angel and two quizzes as well as word searches; anagrams; matching pairs and quizzes. They are supplied on a power point and word document with over 30 challenges.Most challenges are provided both on power point and in a word document – each with some extras: On the power point there are also two picture memory challenges; In the word document there are four word searches.

This is an important part of the History National Curriculum but one which often causes students difficulty. This is a sample of a selection from a range of these resources. These are taken from the resources focussed on KS2. These resources are designed specifically to help students in particular with the ordering of events. To help with understanding the passage of time there is a power point presentation that shows the intervals between events. This has a range of selected events and is designed to convey a sense of the passage of time by having the transition between slides vary in length depending on how many years actually passed between events. Each slide has a date, event and appropriate illustration. (Each event slide is on show for five seconds and the whole presentation lasts for approximately five minutes). As a bonus there is also a ‘click through’ version of the slide show to enable the teacher to give additional information or discuss the event with students. The selection of events is not meant to be definitive for the study of that period (it’s a selection not a comprehensive timeline!) – this allows for an extra activity/challenge of students deciding what is missing/what could be left out. Updated for Charles III This resource is a power point with a difference to support knowledge and understanding of chronology. Each slide features a picture of the monarchs of England/Britain from Alfred the Great to Charles III. Each slide appears for a varied amount of time. This helps show how much real time they reigned for – in this presentation 1 second equals 4 years (so the presentation lasts for around 5 minutes) .

A set of 40 observation challenges which require students (or adults!) to study images carefully. There are twenty sets of three pictures -work out which is the odd one out- and twenty sets of two pictures to spot the differences between. They are suitable for use in a variety of settings -such as cover tasks, time fillers or in tutor time. They are provided both on power point and in word document format.

A set of 50 photo puzzles; each one has a photo of an everyday object but taken from either close- up or an unusual angle. (All photos taken by myself) How quickly can you work out what the photo is of? Ideal for use in tutor time but also suitable for a range of settings – including a staff room quiz!

This is designed to provide tutors and assembly leaders with ready to use resources. The full resource has 46 featured people and events (influential men, women, events that helped create the UK and the modern world as well as examples of co-operation). For each person/event there is a slide with some introductory information and a ‘to think about’ slide (a question that students can think or talk about). There is also a related prayer and a bible quote. The resources are taken from those used in Daily Tutor Time © so all ready to use and can be added to or used with other materials.
