These cycling records are perfect to keep track of your cycling activity while looking at some mathematics skills such as addition and averages.
This pack contains 5 levels of differentiation to suite ages from 4 - 12 (or older!).
**Diff. 1: **Students will record the day and draw a picture for each of their rides.
Diff. 2: Students will record the day, miles ridden and draw a picture for each of their rides before calculating their total miles (great for simple addition practice). Two design options available.
**Diff. 3: ** Students will record the day, miles ridden and draw a picture for each of their rides before calculating their total miles at the end of each ride (great for simple addition).
Diff. 4: Students will record the day, miles ridden and draw a picture for each of their rides before calculating their total miles at the end of each ride. Once all of their rides are complete they will answer some questions involving subtraction, averages, and division.
Diff. 5: Students will record the day, miles, total miles and time taken before working out their average speed for each ride. Once all of their rides are complete they will answer questions involving subtraction, averages, and division.
This record is perfect for national cycle weeks but is also a great way to teach mathematical skills in real world situations.

Growing plants is great fun and can lead to loads of teaching opportunities. For this activity students will plant a variety of species and measure their growth rate over time. The students first look at how they can carry out this investigation, completing an investigation plan.
After the seeds are planted they’ll measure the height of each plant every week and record their findings on the table. As part of the sheet they’ll need to work out differences in heights. We suggest using 4 - 5 different types of plants, ideally ones with a clear difference in growth rate.
How you carry this investigation out depends greatly on the space you have available. You may choose to use separate plant pots or maybe you have a veg patch available. It’s good to discuss the importance of the plants being in the same locations. Why is the sun important for plants? Why is water important? You can go into as much or little detail as needed in these discussions.
It can be useful to set up a timetable of who is going to care for the plants each day. If you choose to use fruits or vegetables (highly recommended!) you can then go onto use these as another stimulus for activities.
Suggested Plants:
Tomato
Spinach
Baby Carrots
Bush Beans
Green Onions
Summer Squash
Beets

The insect trap investigation gets students looking closely at all the amazing creepy crawlies that can be found in your outdoor space by creating small traps. It’s great if you’re looking at living things, habitats, or data handling as well as developing key investigation skills.
**Ages 4 - 6: **Students will set the traps and observe what they collect. At this age it’s great for them to explore the wildlife, talking about their looks, how they move, key features, and other general observations. Once they’ve had time to study what they’ve trapped they can compete the observation sheet where they’ll draw what they’ve collected.
**Ages 7 - 9 & 10 - 12: **Students will set the traps and wait to see what crawls inside (checking each day for a few days. They’ll identify the creatures and record their results on the results table. They can then use their results to create a bar graph of their findings (you can choose to accumulate all the results or just use individuals). After that, get them to complete the evaluation question sheets which will encourage them to think about how successful their traps were and the reasons behind their results.

This math board game is a great way for students to practise mental multiplication for tables 2 - 10 without them even realising that they’re learning. The game is ideal for 2 – 4 players and only needs the board, some counters, and some dice to play. They’ll roll the dice to progress along the board, landing on squares with multiplication problems that they must work out and move their counter accordingly. This pack contains times table cards 2 - 10. We love using this game for extension and filler work as well as a whole lesson activity as it’s a fun way to get students practising their multiplications. We have also very successfully sent it home for them to play with family and friends.

These are perfect for those early finishers in years 5 and 6 who want a challenge or as a starter activity to get their brains warmed up. There are 46 differentiated cards that cover a range of concepts and problems complete with answer and solution sheets.
Task cards are a wonderful way to allow students to be active learners and work both independently or cooperatively with a partner or group. There are so many ways you can use them in your classroom!
No Prep and student friendly instructions.
------------------------
Ideas for the classroom:
- Starter activity
- Paired work
- Group work (carousel)
- Extension activity
- Have students solve a task card independently or with a group, then teach the problem to
another group or student.
- Set up math centers. Students can check their own work with the answer keys, as needed.
This NO PREP engaging fractions lesson (with financial literacy links) is designed to help children learn or practise how to find a fraction of a number. It is designed to be played as a whole class, however would work just as well in small groups.
The aim of the game is to collect as much ‘money’ (obviously imaginary!) as possible. In each round they will be given two options (e.g. 1/3 of $21 or ¼ of $28) and must try to choose the highest amount. They choose which ever they think is highest, work it out, and record it on their sheet. If they work it out incorrectly they do not get to keep any of the ‘money’. At the end the player with the highest score / amount of money is the winner.
I award a few more of our Multiplication Trading Cards as a prize which they love.
For those that need more support we have found it helps if they go with a partner that is able to support them.
This is a fantastic lesson to link in with financial literacy as the harder fractions are generally the highest amount. They need to decide if it’s worth the risk and attempt the harder one.
