I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

This involves the old water issue, requiring 4 litres when you only have containers of 3 litres and 5 litres, plus an interactive game from subtangent.com. I have done a powerpoint version exported from SmartBoard too, on request, and now I have worked out how to embed the video! Enjoy!

The Perimeter Fencing Company like getting the best deal they can for their customers when they put a fence around a ploit, which means no wastage. Calculate the exact amount of fencing required for each plot.

Wall-E Security - Perimeter

Find out how far Wall-E has to travel on one patrol so that he can charge his battery. It's a short worksheet on perimeter for my low ability Year 9s, but I will use it elsewhere!

Using the Trivial Pursuit board, here are some maths questions based upon angles, polygons and probability. Designed as a starter or plenary activity. Inspiration came from the excellent blog http://matheminutes.blogspot.co.uk/ which is well worth a look!

Collective Memory - Add,Subtract,Multiply,Divide

Inspired by mrbarton's collective memory tasks that my classes have enjoyed I wrote these for some lower ability classes I teach. There are calculations for them to do too. If you don't know how they work, get students in groups of 3/4, show the file on the board for 30 seconds and they try to copy what they remember from it (no writing whilst file is being shown). Show the file a total of 4 or 5 times. Great for discussions etc.

This was done using a free piece of software (search online for 'Physics Tracker') to track objects and plot a distance/time graph. I designed it to be a discussion activity, explaining what's happening at each stage of the graph.

Rearranging Area Formulae

Nothing particularly enlightening here other than I found that using function machines to show how to calculate a dimension given the area formula seemed to work quite nicely with a class of mine. This should be a discussion activity in my view.
