I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

Pressure Codbreaker

Pressure Codbreaker

(0)
Various questions involving pressure, including converting between different measurements of pressure. The joke is related to fish hence the name of the resource. These are ideal for online lessons, homeworks or in class.
Density Codbreaker

Density Codbreaker

(0)
Answer the questions, reveal the fish-related joke. You know how these work by now. Ideal for online lessons, homework or in class tasks.
Deriving Algebraic Area Formulae

Deriving Algebraic Area Formulae

(0)
I needed something for deriving formulae and came up with this. There are some that take students through the process by the hand and then four at the end that ask students to go solo (as it were).
Substituting Codbreaker

Substituting Codbreaker

(0)
Substitute the given values into the expression to reveal the fish pun; good for class or homework and ideal for online learning.
Generating Points On Curves Codebreaker

Generating Points On Curves Codebreaker

(0)
Ultimately this is a substitution exercise that reveals a joke. These seem popular with students who like getting the joke first and can be used in most classroom/homework situations. This involves mainly quadratic curves but also a couple of cubics and a reciprocal.
Midpoints and Distance Between Two Points Spiders

Midpoints and Distance Between Two Points Spiders

(0)
Four “spiders”: two on midpoints, two on finding the distance between two points. Midpoints: some questions ask students to find the midpoint, some give the midpoint and one coordinate. Distance: the first spider asks students to find distance (the final question asks students to find a points a given distance from another point). The second gives one point and a length; this could lead to a discussion on Pythagorean triples. Suggested/examples of answers are given where there are multiple options.
Generating Coordinates From Equations Of Lines Codebreaker

Generating Coordinates From Equations Of Lines Codebreaker

(0)
Find the missing values in the coordinates given the equation. The joke is a classic but will make the students groan. These are ideal for class or homework tasks as the students will know whether they are going correctly because the words will begin to form; they also like the competitive nature of getting to the answer first.
Midpoints Codebreaker

Midpoints Codebreaker

(1)
Find the midpoints, discover the cheesy joke. I realised that I had too few resources on midpoints for a lesson on them, hence this. These are good for starters, plenaries, main tasks or homeworks as they spell something out so students know quickly whether they are going in the right direction.
Quadratic Inequalities Codebreaker

Quadratic Inequalities Codebreaker

(0)
Another one of these; solve the quadratic inequalities and reveal the joke. Ideal for students at home or in school as the fact that it spells out a short sentence means that they know whether they are doing it right; they also like the competitive nature of getting to the end first in my experience.

Quadratic Inequalities Codbreaker

(0)
Solve some quadratic inequalities, reveal a cheesy joke about fish. A simple but effective concept that always seems popular in my classroom, plus the answers are on the sheet so students know whether they are right or wrong as the answer will reveal itself. Typos corrected…
Algebraic Fractions Codbreaker

Algebraic Fractions Codbreaker

(0)
Another fish joke discovered having written and simplified some algebraic fractions as a single fractions. Ideal for starters, plenaries, main tasks and homeworks; they are surprisingly popular given the standard of joke…
Direct and Inverse Proportion Codbreakers
alutwychealutwyche

Direct and Inverse Proportion Codbreakers

(0)
Two fish-based jokes: one on direct proportion and one on inverse proportion. Each has tables of paired values and students need to work out the equation linking x and y. These work nicely in class or as a homework.
Everyday Proportion Codbreaker
alutwychealutwyche

Everyday Proportion Codbreaker

(0)
Essentially this covers both direct and inverse proportion using everyday situations (currency conversion, recipes etc); when answered correctly a fish pun reveals itself. Ideal for an online task, homework, starter, plenary etc
Recipe Ratios Codbreaker
alutwychealutwyche

Recipe Ratios Codbreaker

(0)
These are actual recipes so consider this cross-curricular but ultimately this involves recipes and proportion/ratio to find a (terrific) fish joke. Ideal for starters, plenaries, main tasks or homeworks. Proper one posted now!
Forming A Ratio From Ratios Codbreaker
alutwychealutwyche

Forming A Ratio From Ratios Codbreaker

(0)
Two ratios blend into one… and form a fish-related pun. Great for starters, plenaries or main tasks (some people use them for homework). Question 1 is now corrected; I clearly needed to warm up.
Currency Conversion Codebreaker
alutwychealutwyche

Currency Conversion Codebreaker

(2)
Answer the currency conversion question reveal a joke; good for starters or plenaries as well as main tasks but also useful due to the fact that they are self-marking so students know that they understand what to do quite quickly.
