Four "spiders" to help students become comfortable with algebra and manipulating expressions. There is an extension one at the end and the opportunity for discussion about whether there are many answers etc. I have left some blank ones for students to make up their own.

This takes you from basic rounding to whole numbers up through decimal places, significant figures and beyond! Upper and lower bounds also covered along with standard form calculations.

This covers angles on a line, in a triangle, in a quadrilateral and parallel lines both diagrams and worded. Angles in polygons is covered on another one. The joke had to be edited to fit but still as cheesy as one would hope.

The usual cheesy joke; these offer an increasing challenge as students work through them and seem popular (certainly in my classes). Some are partially factorised which makes the students think.

With the new curriculum in mind I did this. Students must use their knowledge of parallel and perpendicular lines to fill in blanks but this could lead to discussions about different ways to write equations of lines etc. Errant negative signs on number 4 corrected (I hope).

Figure out the answer to the (awful) joke by finding HCF or LCM of pairs of numbers.

Two corny jokes to unveil. Sheet one is purely rectangles, squares and triangles; sheet two involves parallelograms, trapeziums and circles.

Just a quick homework, starter or plenary which gives a punchline to a lame joke.

I (when I say "I", I really mean "students") needed some practise on tally/frequency tables and this is what I came up with. There are three tables to complete: firstly a simple tally/frequency, secondly the students must fill in the categories and thirdly a grouped frequency table (on the other side of the worksheet as a mini extension). Simple but got the job done.

A comment from my trainee teacher made me think that rounding to decimal places and significant figures needed an activity, so I came up with this. It should get students thinking and should open up discussion on rounding, which can be a little "dry" but essential to get to grips with. Typo corrected!

One simplifying and one sharing in a given ratio; fairly basic stuff that would be ideal for a homework or starter/plenary. Two lame joke fashioned from my drive to and from school.

Two more codebreakers (and associated lame jokes) on volume and surface area. Codebreaker 1 is cubes, cuboids and cyclinders; codebreaker 2 in speheres, cones and pyramids.

This hopefully covers all bases involving fractions, decimals and percentages from simplifying up to converting recurring decimals to fractions and everything inbetween.

I was asked to cover “An Introduction To Reciprocal Graphs” for an interview lesson; it went quite well so I thought I’d share it. The PowerPoint takes you through it and the worksheets are obviously for the students. Enjoy!
