This is a mini-biography of Cat Stevens, with a true or false activity, comprehension questions and a language exercise. I did this with a year 9 RE group. They carried out a mini research project and then we compared the music of this artist at different stages of his life.

This is a worksheet for EAL students. It focuses on key words to do with the circulatory system and breathing. Correct the mistakes, unscramble the words, answer the questions. Your EAL students can do this while the rest of the class does more advanced work.

Some literacy activities for Christmas - 'how many words can you make from...?&' with fly in answers. Jumbled words of Christmas vocabulary and two Christmas pictures for memory games, with questions.

A set of cards requiring students to choose an option and justify it. Interesting mix of subjects: stop warfare or end disease? Give up crisps or chocolate? The students have to find the prefix or suffix which will go with each of 4 words. There are 32 sets of words. They can then discuss whether they have created antonyms or turned adjectives into proper nouns etc... A few slides at a time for starter activities...

This is a desk-top mat for mainstream teachers with EAL students in the class. It's a short check list and then suggested activities for beginners through to advanced bilingual learners.

This is a series of pictures and comments about a boy's day to reinforce the present simple - what he normally/usually/sometimes does etc.. There is reading, sequencing, match up (sentences and pictures), true or false and a gap fill activity. Thanks to my colleague Sophia in Ukraine for the template. I&'ve done this for my EAL class, but it may suit younger pupils.

This is a reading passage, written as a fable, with exercises. There is a 'true or false&', some vocabulary work, and other suggested tasks. My students particularly enjoyed discussing the moral and thinking up some of their own.

Mats in various formats for teachers who have EAL students in their class. Some of these I have uploaded previously - on here they are updated. The infographic could be used as staff training: what does each image mean? There is a sentence generator and a mat for teaching new items of vocabulary which I have seen elsewhere in various forms. Hope these are useful!

A variety of worksheets with the main language focus being the past simple tense. There are suggested activities on each sheet. 'Holiday did you&' is a list of questions for pair work coming back from the summer holiday. &';Crystal is not a bully' and &'Things you should do before you die&'; might be of use in PHSCE.

I made this for a year 9 group doing Employability. The first topic was 'Punctuality.&' There are some EAL beginners in the group, so a few slides have got exercises they can access.

Practice writing full sentences with 'there is&' and &';there are' and counting. They are going to want to colour this picture in! I have permission to use it from the artist, Melanie Hope Greenberg. A bit of fun!

A series of inkblots - what can the students see in them? There is an example on the first slide. This makes a great starter.

This is a 'Picture-based discussion&' topic. I put them in pairs and give them time to look at the sheet and make notes. One has to argue for the proposal and the other against. Great for starters in English or to develop more fully in PHSE.
