Green Pen Student Response Feedback starter activity

Following the marking of exercise books, I give my students several personalised learning targets and activities to complete as a starter during the next lesson. I created this Slide which I put up on the board to encourage a dialogue between us and to get them thinking about their progress and what they are still struggling with. (I also used their responses in their books as a way of planning follow up lessons as well as a starting point for my next set of marking). Please feel free to use and adapt as you feel appropriate.

Using the Pearson ‘Steps’ chart I have converted them into GCSE grades for the benefit of my students and the grading scheme that we use in the Languages Department and school. Please feel free to use and change for what works for you.

I’m more than happy to share resources. If you’re happy with them, feel free to buy me a coffee by pressing the coffee link https://www.buymeacoffee.com/armyjames01 if my resources have helped you. Thank you. As a Head of Department I was asked a few years ago by my school to come up with a vision for my MFL Department which would go at the bottom of all my emails etc. Feel free to use and adapt if needed.

Dominoes game blank template to use

This is a great resource to use as a starter or plenary activity for any language lesson. On each domino put the French and then the English word (or any other language for that matter), mix them up and hand them out to students and then they have to match them out. This is not my own resource but one that I have been using for a while now and have also seen used by many people and wanted to share it.

Following an extremely useful teacher training course in London last year one of the other teachers (sorry I didn’t know his name) shared this idea of using ‘ACTION’; with our GCSE students in order to check their own Writing and Speaking Controlled Assessment tasks and gain the maximum higher marks as well as a key revision aid. I have found this extremely useful with all my students since then so I thought I would share it. Please feel free to comment or give any suggestions.
