This pack has two PowerPoints that explain how to put past perfect tense verbs in to the negative form. The first PowerPoint goes through forming the negative with n'/ne and pas for all verbs except reflexives. It then goes on to introduce ne ... rien/ jamais/plus/que. Each section has a range of exercises to complete and there is a worksheet to accompany the PowerPoint. These exercises include a reading comprehension and transition exercises, important to start early on, ready for the new GCSE specifications. The second PowerPoint follows a very similar format for reflexive perfect tense verbs and has exercises to complete. These presentations compliment my Complete Guide to Past Perfect Tense Verbs, following a tried and tested method.

Easily adaptable for home learning. This is a fun, creative project for students of all ability ranges. It is a great project for pupils in years 8 or 9 and takes 2 – 3 weeks to complete. Pupils work in pairs or small groups to make their own French magazine. The PowerPoint goes through the different types of magazines pupils could create (fashion, sport, tech, healthy lifestyle, music, travel) and explains in a step-by-step format the different features each magazine should include. Example and ideas of features/ articles to include are also given. The PowerPoint is a complete introduction to pupils for the creative work they will be doing, in the form of a magazine, and there is also a worksheet to print for each group to keep to guide them through everything they should include. It is ideal to do at the end of term as it allows pupils to work independently from the teacher; practise the French they have learnt; and they really enjoy this creative task.

This resource is to actively practise and use the 3 past tenses – imperfect, perfect and pluperfect. It goes through a revision of each tense with exercises to check comprehension for each tense and an accompanying worksheet. Then the main text is introduced which is part of a ‘mysterious story’. This is first as a listening activity with two different exercises to complete and a worksheet. The text is then used as a reading comprehension with a range of questions, grammar and writing activities to complete. The final writing activity involves creative writing, as students need to provide their own ending to the mystery. Answers to activities are on the PowerPoint. This should certainly take two – three lessons.

Easily adaptable for home learning. This covers the whole of Theme 1, Topic 2 – Technology in everyday life. The PowerPoint is very lengthy and contains work for several lessons. The PowerPoint is broken down into sections: A) Grammar; B) Reading and Writing C) Speaking. There are different worksheets to accompany exercises on the PowerPoint. The exercises include: many reading comprehensions with different types of exercises to complete; translations into English and into French; verb and tenses exercises; grammar identification exercises; vocabulary match-ups; photo stimuli for written tasks; a blog writing task; two role-play cards (foundation and higher); five photo cards for speaking activities and finally questions related to the general conversation section of the speaking exam. It introduces questions and answers about likes and dislikes as well as opinions/ reasons. It goes on to introduce and practise phrases connected to being good/ bad at subjects as well as talking about favourite subjects. There are pair work speaking activities, reading activities and writing activities. The reading activities include texts with vrai/faux exercises as well as activities with open-ended questions. There is a school timetable that pupils could replicate and questions to answer about the timetable they see. Answers for all activities appear on the PowerPoint. Easily adaptable for home learning. This PowerPoint introduces pupils to a total of 36 items of clothing. The clothes are introduced in 3 sets of 12 items of clothing. In each set there is plenty of practice of each item. Pupils are able to practice answers to question about what they wear and what other people wear/ are wearing (present tense only). There are various activities for them to complete and a lengthy worksheet that accompanies the PowerPoint. Also enclosed in the pack is a word search document. After practicing all of the clothes, the PowerPoint revises colours and goes on to explain adjectival colour agreements with lots of examples. There is a table that pupils can copy or it can be printed, as a reference for all future work with colour adjectival agreements. There is then a range of exercises for pupils to practice talking about clothes and colours. This is a tried and tested method to ensure and check the comprehension throughout.
