Students will learn new vocabulary and expressions related to ordering food in French at a restaurant. They will practice their oral comprehension and speaking skills through interactive activities involving videos and role plays. As an extension activity, students can describe a favourite recipe of theirs. Rubrics included for both activities. (Please note: The rubrics have been made to follow the four criteria elements in the Ontario French Curriculum.) They can be adjusted based on your school´s curriculum and as you see fit.

This long lesson can be broken down into several smaller lessons. Many interactive activities are used to aim to increase students’ intercultural awareness by teaching them about francophone communities in Québec through using interactive, authentic sources where they will be able to “visit” a child(ren) around their age living in Québec and compare their hobbies and city/town with those of the child(ren) they visited. This cross-curricular social studies unit aims to inspire responsible citizenship in promoting environmental sustainability. By integrating the social studies inquiry process with the language, visual arts, science, and mathematics curriculum, students can develop their knowledge, skills, and confidence in taking responsible action and participating in environmentally sustainable practices within their school community and beyond. This unit consists of eleven engaging lessons organized into two sections - awareness and action. The purpose of the first six lessons is to have students reflect on their perspective of and relationship to the environment. The awareness section also focuses on building a collective awareness of the principles of environmental sustainability. The remaining five lessons are structured to mobilize students to take action on an environmental issue of interest that was explored at the beginning of the unit (see Unit Overview Chart).
