Complete lesson on Preserving Biodiversity, designed for the new Activate Scheme but can be used for other syllabus’ as well.
Includes definitions of extinction and conservation, gene banks and captive breeding. There are you tube videos included to support learning and a challenge grid of questions that can be printed and given to the students. The questions are differentiated with red being lowest level to green being highest with a challenge question in purple to stretch the higher ability students and get them thinking about the importance of conservation.

Attached is a complete lesson on Energy dissipation for KS3 Energy Transfers topic. It covers energy dissipation, energy transfers and efficiency calculations. For high ability students you could get them to have a go at creating Sankey diagrams on wasted and useful energy.
I have created a step by step narrative on Efficiency calculations that can be used as an activity with the students. You may find that the high ability students do not need this extra support.

There is a practical requiring light ray boxes, mirrors and protractors for students to investigate what the Law of Reflection might be and to draw their own conclusions before revealing the Law to them.
Included in this lesson pack is a Code breaker starter, instruction sheet for students to use as a checklist during the practical to encourage students to follow all instructions in a method, an investigation template for the lower ability students with the incident rays already drawn on and a differentiated worksheet with questions on Reflection and using the Law of Reflection.

Here is a lesson I used with a top set year 8 class over a period of two lessons. the first lesson focused on what are moments, levers, pivots and turning forces with a practical to help students understand how the forces work. There are two different practicals, one for lower ability and one for higher ability.
Following this, pupils can self assess on how they feel about moments and calculating them and then complete the releveant worksheet, self assess using the markscheme and then move onto the next level. This independent differentiated task allows for focus on helping those who are struggling more.
The presentation is sectioned off so sections that aren’t needed in the lesson (e.g. LA in HA group) can be hidden by highlighting slides, right clicking and select Hide Slides.

Designed for the OCR A Level Lesson 6.4 on the organisation and specialisation of cells. As this is a topic students should have recall of from GCSE it is designed with brief introduction and then students work independently to make notes using the questions provided and their text books. I have introduced Cornell notes for this to provide students with an alternative method of note taking. Answers to questions provided.
These questions can be used in the lessons or as a homework. Links directly to the AQA GCSE Objectives and are graded at Grades 4, 6 and 8. Answers are provided for self or peer assessment.
Excellent way to support students in their lesson notes.
