Some activities we used in Early Years linked to the story 'The Papaya that Spoke' using talk for writing. Children used actions to retell the story, made story maps then innvoated the story to create a new story 'the strawberry that spoke.'

Clues and letter for children to go on a Gingerbread man hunt around school. Includes, cloakroom, staffroom, office, dinner hall, gym, music room, story chair, outside and back to Nursery. Also included is labels for the envelopes as each time we found a clue we counted and matched the correct number to the buttons on the envelope.

2 weeks of planning linked to 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar.' Includes Literacy and Numeracy activities for Early years and plans for the other areas of the classroom. There is also some worksheets and some are included in the free resources section e.g pictures to match retelling the story and counting worksheets.
This 2 weeks planning is linked to the Gruffalo. There is Lit/Num plans - 2 lessons for each week and skills planning for the other areas of the classroom. There is also a couple of worksheets.
I used these plans with Year 1 children. They involved an outdoor lesson where the children created their own story boxes and then photographed different scenes to make a powerpoint. Included is a detail observed lesson plan and some of our finished stories.

Flipcharts including 5 pictures to match each sound. Each picture has a phoneme box underneath. I use these during phonics teaching- I show the pictures related to the sounds we are learning then everyone writes matching word on their own whiteboard or on the flipchart.

This is an outdoor lesson plan I recently used with Nursery children and was graded as outstanding. It involves retelling the story, counting and building animal homes using natural materials. Also included is some photographs for ideas for the animal homes and some photos of the homes we made.
