This is a 7 slide PowerPoint that covers BTec National Engineering (A-Level equivalent) on the topic of Tensile and Compressive forces which create stress and strain. This then goes on to explain how this relates to the Modulus of Elasticity (Young Modulus). Three question sheets are included complete with worked answers.
This is the first of three PowerPoints in this series and covers the mathematical and physics for an analysis of Stress and Strain in Engineering materials
v1.1 - PDF question sheets and worked answers added to resource
v1.11 - Two more sets of questions and answers added to resource; minor improvements to ppt also made
v1.12 - Error on the answer sheet corrected
v1.13 - Jan 2023 Error on Powerpoint corrected

This is a lesson and PowerPoint explaining background radiation and its sources. This is the tenth lesson in the Atomic Structure unit of work (P4).
The lesson covers the main reasons for background radiation and then links to external web sources for Radon gas causes. There is a detailed lesson plan with notes on teaching, a PowerPoint to support the lesson and a worksheet to aid in delivery / test understanding through the use of four differentiated activities to choose from.
This is a detailed lesson and PowerPoint Explaining the solar system. This is the first lesson in the Space unit of work (P8).
The lesson covers the theory of the formation of the solar system, what it contains, links between the planets and days of the week (and religions), definition of moons and galaxies and also an activity on modelling the positions of the planets to scale (with an answer key)
Ideas for differentiation, discussion, research and homework also included in lesson plan.
Version 1.01 - Amended an error in the data table, Neptune/Uranus
This is an 15 slide PowerPoint that covers BTec National Engineering (A-Level equivalent) plus a worksheet and the answers to the worksheet
This covers the mathematical and physics of vectors, resolving vectors and creating free body diagrams, space diagrams and vector diagrams
This PowerPoint forms Lesson 1 in this series
v.2 - Jan 2022 PowerPoint improved with additional slides showing 4 step-by-step examples
This is an 15 slide PowerPoint that covers BTec National Engineering (A-Level equivalent) on the topic of combining sinusoidal waveforms. This lessons starts with a graphical representation of waveforms for AC voltage, and shows how a resultant wave is formed from two sinusoidal waveforms. This is then extended to a graphical solution method, using vectors for phasors, and then a mathematical method using the cosine and sine rules to add two wave equations together.
This is the second PowerPoint in this section (Single phase alternating current).
v1.01 (Dec 2021 ) - Minor improvements
iGCSE - Acceleration calculations and graph interpretation
This lesson covers the basic calculation of acceleration, and then uses graphs to show calculations using gradients as well as the area under the graph using composite triangles and rectangles.
The worksheet is a two page questions sheet (with answer sheet supplied) that goes over the main points covered in the lesson
This is a 17 slide PowerPoint that covers BTec National Engineering (A-Level equivalent) on the topic of logarithms. This lesson covers the basic rules for logarithms in algebra and their uses in Engineering and Physics. There is a worksheet included and answers for the questions.
This is the second PowerPoint in this section (Mathematical methods).
v1.1 - Worksheet made slightly easier and removed natural logs questions, replaced with log base 10.
This lesson covers the basic calculation of velocity, defines velocity and speed, covers the main units of measure and then uses graphs to show calculations using gradients. The PowerPoint is animated and is designed to show worked examples of how to find a gradient step-by-step for both a straight line and a curve.
The worksheet is a two page questions sheet (with answer sheet supplied) that goes over the main points covered in the lesson
