This lesson will take two hours as students use information and sources to form a judgement to the issue above.

Students will look at events in the Balkans following the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and how countries in Europe interacted with one another.
Students then have a source analysis task before attempting a GCSE exam question with the mark scheme provided.

Students are given evidence about the Titanic and those involved in the maiden voyage and disaster.
Students are then tasked with coming to their own conclusion on why the Titanic sank and who/what is to blame.

A KS3 History lesson which introduces Titanic and why it is such a notorious disaster of the early 20th century.
Titanic’s luxury as well as the possible causes of the disaster are looked at here. This is developed within a second lesson (Why did the Titanic sink?)

Poverty in Britain
A KS3 History lesson looking at poverty in Britain at the start of the 20th century.
Students are exposed to the disparity of lifestyles within the country and the problems faced by the poorest of people.
Students then see some liberal reforms (children’s charter, free school meals, etc.) and assess the impact of these on the people of Britain.

This lesson is taught almost like a timeline from start to finish of the war. I teach this over 2-3 lessons to introduce the topic and then go into more detail with certain events in lessons after this.
