Word Mats to develop Vocabulary KS1 and KS2
These are used in vocabulary lessons to develop understanding. Two differentiated word mats for different abilities.
Year 1 ordering amounts of objects ( 2 lessons) plus resources
I have made a 2 lesson unit on the objective
“I can order amounts” linked to the White Rose Planning - it includes reasoning questions for each lesson too.
Year 1 Part Part Whole Worksheets for bonds 8,9,10 and 20
I created these worksheets for a unit on number bonds and introducing some of the Singapore Maths concepts. These worksheets can be adapted to any number bond.
Phase 4 Phonics Resources (cvcc,ccvc,ccvcc etc)
These activities have been created and are dated in the order they are taught. Great sheets for EAL children so that they understand what they are trying to spell.
Consonant Clusters Activities fl/fr, cl/cr, bl/br, gl/gr
Activities to support children in distinguishing the first two consonants of a word.
KS1 Bundle of Place Value Activities (1 more, 10 more, less, between, counting in sequences etc)
Set of worksheets for children to use with visual support so that children can understand the value of different numbers - bargain bundle!
KS1 Pseudo Word Cards ( the tricky sounds!)
I have made these resources for my class for the children who always get stuck on the trickier sounds from Phase 5. They practice in class and I have also sent these home. Great to play matching games etc too!
Teaching arrays with Chocolate Bars (arrays of 2 and 5) KS1

Jack and the Beanstalk Year 1 Unit of Work

Year 1 Termly Spelling Assessments
These assessments cover all areas of the spelling curriculum in Year 1. It also has a scoring system so you can compare progress from one term to the next and also identify the next steps in the teaching of spelling with your class.
One is a snail Ten is a Crab Problem Solving Activity
Based on the known book “One is a snail Ten is a Crab” - children are introduced to animals with 3 legs, 7 legs, 13 legs, 20 legs etc and are given a series of challenges to extend from this idea in the book.
Year 2 Termly Spelling Assessments
A great termly resource that covers all areas of the spelling curriculum in year 2. It identifies strengths and areas to develop within your cohort and is also a good tool to show progress in this area.
Our Trip to the Beach KS1 Report Writing ( reading comp included)
This was a non fiction unit based on a trip to the local beach. In this bundle I have included a print out of the text, a powerpoint and also a reading comprehension linked to the text. I have included lots of common exception words in the text to support spelling assessment.
Year 2 Termly Word Reading Assessments
Termly word reading assessment which covers all the different words children should be able to read by the end of Year 2. I did these assessments on a termly basis and scored each area to show strengths and next teaching points across the cohort. Also great to show impact on reading interventions that you may do!
KS1 Word Reading Assessments
These are used to ensure children can read the range of words across the KS1 curriculum. Year 2 assessments are different each term and you can give a score for each area of the curriculum to identify strengths and weaknesses. I have also created a spelling assessment along the same lines. Please see the other bundle for this.
Easter Around the World Unit Year 1
This is a non-fiction unit using the story “When Granny went to Market” where she flies around the world on a magic carpet visiting different countries. The class all jumped on a flying carpet (rug) and we visited different countries with props too. Planning resources and powerpoints all included.
Arithmetic Practice Quiz Year 1
These are a set of arithmetic challenges that are differentiated starting from the simplest number facts to more challenging number facts. The children enjoyed working on these spotting patterns, doubles, adding zero/ one etc and also spotting when it was subtracting or adding. I have added my examples and a blank to create your own.
Alternative Grapheme Activities Phase 5 Phonics
Alternative pronunciations for graphemes can be introduced with these activities e.g. ea in tea, head and break.
Year 1 Keyword Reading Mats
These were used for children to take home with their reading books. Can be adapted to suit individual children's needs. I have also created common exception word bookmarks and other words to read in another bundle e.g suffixes and contractions
