Reading and listening activity which has been tried and tested in the classroom in upper KS2. The presentation allows the class to read/listen to extracts from the classic 'Gothic Horror' novel by Bram Stoker. * The work of the creator has been in the the public domain since 1962, so there will be no copyright issues* Suggested use: Pupils choose up to 9 words from the list and play the Bingo game as the text is read out. LO: To select appropriate mathematics and techniques to use You have volunteered to run a game at the school fete in which people each pull numbered balls from a bag. (No actual balls are required!) What different products can you make using the numbers? What is the smallest/largest amount you can make? (e.g. the digits 2, 3, 5 and 7 could create 572 × 3 or 735 + 2) This is an effective way to assess how pupils can use their procedural skills in a reasoning task. 4 levels of differentiation are included in these worksheets.

These activities have been used with Year 4, 5 & 6 to reinforce the practice of well formed, cursive handwriting. They were integrated into guided reading lessons as a separate reinforcement task. Learners research sporting events across the world and label their findings on the large blank world map. e.g. Date, location and type of event. More able pupils could work out how many years ago each event took place. A partly completed sample map is and a list of Olympic dates are also included. For best results pupils should use A3 paper and shade using colours. LO: To use atlases and maps to locate countries that have hosted major sporting events.
