This resource was used in ICT to encourage students to make their own advert, but could easily be adapted for reluctant writers or made into an assembly to show how advertising works. i.e. Selling products people do not want to buy. This resource requires a newer version of PowerPoint or the player.

This little tutorial shows you how to make a Gantt chart using the free software GanttProject. It's a lot easier to introduce project management concepts when they don't have to be bogged down with the complex Maths involved or use software that's not really designed to do it.

This project encourages students to take responsibility for their own learning and improve the use of ICT in school. This could be a one-off project in an ICT lesson, a project extension for gifted and talented or something that school council investigates. It also could also be connected to a Digital Leaders project.

This little video and associated materials helps students to make a spaceship and get it to move in Scratch. There is also a link to the completed game on Scratch which you might want to share. This was made, because my A-level ICT students had no idea what business departments were and what they did. It is a simple sheet to make sure that students know the VERY basics.

We used the Lego Mindstorms Robots for this, but you could use any Turtle or robot to compete in an Olympics. Simply put, we got students from neighbouring Primary Schools to come in and compete for the honour of winning the Robo Olympics. This project is designed to help students to think about the safe use of Social Networking sites in the guise of designing a leaflet for parents. Very useful, especially for year 9's who believe that they already know it all. Once made, sometimes the students create quality projects that are worth sharing with the parents. This project does NOT require any direct access to Social Networking sites, so is useful for schools who block Facebook etc.

You might be surprised by what colour combinations students respond to. I have a number of SEN students that find certain colour combinations far easier to read. Great SEN tool to help students find most comfortable colour combinations. This can also be used in ICT to help students think about design combinations for PowerPoint.

Nice little activity to encourage students to use Formulae more carefully. Ideal for G&T year 8s, year 9s and 10s. I hope the students enjoy working it out. (Answers are provided)

This little presentation introduces Cartoon Story Maker. A great little application made by the Victorian State Government. The entire presentation was made using it and the first link shows you the end result it saves. The other link is to download the software for yourself. (Requires Adobe Flash to use)

These worksheets teach students about the ratings systems for games and how appropriate different games are for children. These worksheets would be useful as part of a Games Design project in ICT and in PSHE and citizenship in teaching children to be responsible about what games they play. I made the original worksheet about 3 years ago and staff keep on requesting copies of it. It's a very simple sheet to explain how to design a good quality PowerPoint Slide. I've added a PowerPoint presentation with the answers and a simplified lesson plan. I hope its helpful and please adapt as you wish.

This Word table introduces students to Open Source software and asks why schools are still prepared to pay for commercial software? It is useful for familiarising students and teachers to software types, what is available for free and what benefits a school gets from commercial software.

This is a complete Web Design module that can be used in Keystage 3 or as a refresher in Keystage 4. It uses the free software, Kompozer which is a WYSIWYG designer but enables you to see the code at a glance. In the module students design a Web Safety site, helping them to understand how to use the web safely. There are links to the software, the sample site and the planning lesson.
