A lot of students don't know why spreadsheets are important and this little set of cut out cards shows how spreadsheets can be helpful to people.

Word Clouds are a great way to share vocabulary without making an obvious writing frame. Students with SEN can access the vocabulary and other students will appreciate the design. Not only that, but words at different angles make it more interesting to read and encourage dyslexic students to turn words around to visualise letters appropriately. Also different fonts can be used for easy reading. I've shown an example, which can be used for planning a holiday in England. There are also visual prompts included too. You might be surprised by what colour combinations students respond to. I have a number of SEN students that find certain colour combinations far easier to read. Great SEN tool to help students find most comfortable colour combinations. This can also be used in ICT to help students think about design combinations for PowerPoint.

Creating role-playing cards

This video shows you how to cut out an image and use it for a magazine or digital media. (Used Photoshop Elements 9, but the tool is available in Photoshop and most graphics packages)

This lesson shows students a very well written letter of complaint and then encourages them to roleplay how they would deal with such complaints. Originally made for BTEC Business this could also be used for writing letters of complaint in English or as a precursor to a scene in Drama.

There is a lot of jargon on how we connect to the Internet and this fully animated presentation shows you exactly how we connect to the Internet as a story. By making a story this is now suitable for students from Key Stage 2 - 5 and brings all the jargon together in a meaningful way. (Highly recommended for teaching iGCSE Internet technologies). The words have been minimized to make more accessible for students with limited vocabulary.

This little lesson was designed to encourage students to search using keywords and then reference information given. It also shows how keywords can be used to precis information. I hope it's useful.
