Playing French TABOO is a great way to get students to speak French and learn a lot of new vocabulary. This game is simple to modify and use with beginners and advanced students alike. In this AUTOMNE theme version of the game there 32 French-English cards. There are 2 fun ways to play this fun vocabulary game and both are explained in the instructions
At the top of each card there is an underlined French autumn related word. Beneath that word there are 4 taboo words in French and English. Technically you're not supposed to be able to use taboo words as you describe the underlined word and try to get your partner to guess correctly. However, beginner French students can also play this fun game if you DO allow them to use the taboo words. They'll learn so much. More advanced French students must not use the taboo words and have to speak in complete sentences when giving descriptions.
Included:
How to play classic taboo (beginner and advanced levels)
32 Taboo game cards to print, laminate, cut out and hook together with a ring
32 vocabulary words list with images and quizlet study set link
Black and white and color versions of the cards are included
PDF to project one card at a time for classroom activities
How to play 15 MINUTES MAX - an alternative version of the game
15 MINUTES MAX game board
Sheet to record new words in French and English (nouveaux mots)
*In the upper left corner there's a spot for you to punch holes in the cards so that you can then attach them with a ring for no prep use every time. Be sure to laminate if at all possible!

French CATCH PHRASE Speaking Game
Catch Phrase is a fun game to get your students speaking and having fun in French while learning tons of new vocabulary words. This game doesn't follow any particular theme, so the 80 playing cards display 80 unrelated words - a fantastic way to round out your students' speaking skills! This game is only in French and is suitable for both core and immersion curriculums.
This game is a lot like the TABOO game, but there are no taboo words. Each game card shows the word in question in French along with an image to illustrate it.
This product includes:
How to play
80 playing cards in color
80 playing cards in black and white
File showing one card per page to project for all class activity
The game is played in two teams. The goal for each player is to get their team to say the word or word phrase displayed on the game card. One member of a team starts a timer for 5 minutes and tries to get his or her team to guess the displayed word or phrase.
A clue-giver can make any physical gesture and give almost any verbal clue, but may not say a word that rhymes with any of the words, give the first letter of a word, say the number of syllables, or say part of any word in the clue.
When the team guesses correctly, the other team takes the stack of cards and takes its turn. Play continues until the timer runs out. The team not holding the stack of cards when time runs out scores a point. They also have one chance to guess the word or phrase, with team members allowed to confer; a correct answer earns a bonus point. The first team to score 7 points wins.
