They are a good project to lead up to the mock controlled assessment task. I asked my students to choose a brief rather than do both, however you can do both one after the other. A more detailed approach is the MOCK CONTROLLED ASSESSMENT TEMPLATE and HELP BOOK This is excellent preparation for the actual controlled assessment. It has a detailed blank template to use for the mock controlled assessment and super detailed helpbook which links to each page. *Please note that in the actual controlled assessment students are not allowed this much guidance however it is good preparation. I have added in some plating technique group practical recipes and links as an additional resource that proved very helpful when leading up to the controlled assessment mock.
