Bodily appearance

(1)
A ppt with funny pictures of extreme body types (very tall, fat, small...) and a handout with sentences in German (Er ist gross, Sie ist klein...). Teacher shows pictures and says sentences in German, students work out the English translation by looking at the pictures and then write it on the handout next to the German sentences. Afterwards they can use the writing frame on the handout to describe themselves. Not to be used with classes that will get too excited by funny pictures!

<p>Power point for the first lesson to show students your expectations for careful copying in German lessons. Students are shown a sentence on the whiteboard and asked to copy it carefully. Then potential mistakes are highlighted and students have to check their own work, e.g. do they have an underlined title, capital letters and umlaut.</p>

End of Term activity using authentic resources for beginners' German

Here is an idea how to add more authentic resources as asked for in the new specifications. This is a worksheet and a presentation based on a German pop song and includes a gap fill, a translation task and a creative project. The song is slow and suitable for beginners but is ideally used after the introduction of numbers and plurals. (E.g. in chapter 2 of Stimmt 1). This download includes a PowerPoint with an introduction, the answer to the tasks and a translation of the text, a worksheet and a lesson plan. Note: This unit of work is based on the song Einmal by Die Prinzen. Please make sure you can access it on YouTube or somewhere else before buying. The song is not included.

Do you use a lot of PowerPoint presentations and are bored with using the same design all the time? Here are 14 themed backgrounds to bring variety to your presentations. Most of them should also help students with dyslexia who find it easier to read from coloured backgrounds. The themes are mainly the ones covered in language lessons but can be used for a variety of subjects. TES doesn't allow the sharing of Office Themes, so these are saved as presentations. Either use them as they are and add your content or save them as a Office Theme if you want to use them in different presentations. Note: These presentations do not contain any content but are only backgrounds.

Display the numbers so everybody in the class can see them: one number per A4 sheet. To display both number words and colour words, print the numbers on coloured paper and make sure the colour of the sheets for 1-11 match the words at the bottom. Alternatively print in black and white and colour in the numbers or use the version without colour words.
