An obvious use of being able to compare two pictures was to use a compass rose as one picture to help learners understand the points of the compass. In this case the other picture is a collection of 16 animals. I wanted to create differentiated activities and to show that compass directions are cross curricular. Any pictures could be used.

Using a combination of coding I have used before I created this template which gives learners information [from drop down lists] and a grid of names [in this case animals] and asks them to colour them [background colours] according to the criteria [in this case animal classification]. This template could be adapted for parts of speech, classes of levers, food groups or words associated with particular topics like the seasons.
