All of my activities are created on an Acer Chromebook in a series of Posts on a Google Blog. I know nothing of computer coding but started with one piece of free coding and have been adapting that by incorporating additional free coding. They are created as TEMPLATES for online interactive resources. So, if you have a blog, or want to create one to try this concept out, simply copy and paste the text in the downloaded text file as a NEW POST and PUBLISH.

I wanted to create an activity in which learners “taught themselves”. I created an invisible framed grid which could overlay a picture. By making those same frames appear coloured when hovered over meant I could write the labels to particular items within the picture. I had the vehicle that allowed learners to to label their own picture. By adding the typewriter script I also had the means to direct learners to find the specific items within the picture. This became an activity which could be used for any topic of the curriculum in which labelling was important. The original activity can be found at https://learnanytime-mycreations.blogspot.com/2024/01/animal-habitats-labelling-pictures-with_43.html The activities are meant to be fun, flexible and differentiated. They are meant to develop transferable skills and be cross curricular. As a result they hopefully reinforce small chunks of information and give a better understanding of a topic. I have combined two sets of coding here to create an activity which links maths and English. Clicking on a series of “action verbs” creates a sum which learners can work out on a calculator. In version [1b] the same set of “action verbs” creates a sum which learners can work out but without the use of the “=” button. If you download the coding you can very simply change the numbers used and or the pictures to suit any topic. I have combined two sets of coding here to create an activity which links learning with testing in a simple format. If the emphasis is on sentence creation rather than writing sentences then this activity allows learners that opportunity. I have called them [calculator sentences] because they use the coding taken from a “calculator” activity in which by clicking on a word [in this case] the same word is displayed in a “screen”. By this means learners can simply “click” on words for them to appear as a series of words which become their sentence. This obviously means that using any suitable picture and set of words any subject or topic could be easily created as “calculator sentences”. Catalogue of all of my activities

I have recently re-catalogued all of my activities into an alphabetical list of “topic areas” and I hope this helps with your future planning and research for suitable activities for your learners. The download file is that catalogue as a “plain text” file .txt. If you have a blog simply copy and paste the text as a NEW POST and PUBLISH. You should have a complete list of all of my activities in alphabetical order. As you hover over individual titles the link to that particular activity will become visible. Clicking on the link will take you to the specific activity. By editing the list you should be able to sort out those activities you may wish to use.
