Designed to fit in to the SQA's New Higher French society unit, this resource would also be useful for high ability GSCE pupils and AS level students needing to work on their listening skills and build their confidence in this area. This resource comprises of a video (and identical audio if you've not got fast broadband) of a native French speaker talking about becoming an adult. The recording is 1:43 in length and is accompanied by a workbook and answer booklet. The activities include three different types of gap fill, dictation, comprehension questions, true/false questions and translation as well as some extension activities. The resource aims to not just build confidence in listening but also practise dictionary skills, increase grammar awareness and work on translation.

This resource contains an Environmental Issues PowerPoint introducing six environmental issues in French, a vocabulary list and images to support pupils in a poster project. *Recently added! A longer list of environmental issues (11) to stretch higher ability pupils or adapt the resources to suit KS3. The PowerPoint (with audio to support non-language specialists) revises du, de la and des and sets the class up for designing a poster on one of the environmental issues to alert people to the problem. There is a basic success criteria which can be adapted to suit the class. Also included in this resource are six sheets providing visual help for those pupils struggling with their poster. This quiz contains ten simple general knowledge questions and pupils need to scan the QR codes (I put them up around the room) to find the answers. Each code has a letter assigned to it so even if the pupils know some of the answers already, they still need to find the letter. This quiz can also be used as a starting point for a bit of research using the iPads. For example, question four asks pupils to find the country that is in both Europe and Asia. Once the quiz is over (or as a filler while others are finishing), they could be asked to find five interesting facts about Turkey to share with the rest of the class. Do you want to broaden your pupils' knowledge of Spain while working on their research skills? This resource is really easy to use in your classroom – there are 19 printable worksheets covering the 17 autonomous communities and two autonomous cities. Pupils can then undertake their own research (at home or in class) to find out more about a Spanish region. Pupils are asked to: • find out what the Spanish call that region • draw and colour the regional flag • find out the population, language(s) spoken and large cities • mark the region on the map • provide interesting facts. If the class is coping well, use slides 914 to introduce the five stages in sentences. *Make sure you have the “notes” section visible for additional vocabulary support if you need it. 2. Slide 15 onwards can be used as an identification game. Show the class the photos and see if they can identify in French which part of the life cycle is shown. 3. Flashcards can be used as part of a wall display or as a stimulus for an art-based project for pupils to create their own images. 4. The colouring sheets can be completed using a range of media. 5. The matching and cutting and sticking worksheets can be used to check comprehension. There are different levels available to allow for differentiation. 6. Matching cards are a more supported comprehension activity as each part of the life cycle has a unique edge to help with matching. 7.
