Eclipses and Satellites

(0)
KS3 lesson on eclipses and satellites. Differentiated questions throughout and weblinks all working when uploaded. I would advise also having a big light/torch and two different sized balls to demonstrate the different types of eclipses. Learning Objectives: Describe what satellites are Describe the difference between lunar and solar eclipses Explain how eclipses occur
Astronomy
ls6372ls6372

Astronomy

(0)
KS3 lesson on different aspects of astronomy looking at: days, months, years and seasons.Differentiated throughout and a homework included at the end of the lesson Learning Objectives: Describe the terms: night, day, month and year Explain why the planet has seasons Compare days, months and years on other planets
GCSE Physics Density (regular)
ls6372ls6372

GCSE Physics Density (regular)

(0)
GCSE Physics lesson on density given to KS4 class, covering the following learning objectives: Define the term density Calculate the density of a solid of liquid object Investigate the relationship between density and buoyancy
GCSE Physics: The motor effect
ls6372ls6372

GCSE Physics: The motor effect

(0)
The lesson is an introduction to the motor effect. It also includes a small practical for the magnetism topic Lesson objectives *Build an electromagnet *Use Fleming’s left hand rule *Use F=BIL
GCSE Physics Big Bang Evidence
ls6372ls6372

GCSE Physics Big Bang Evidence

(0)
A GCSE physics lesson on the evidence of the big bang used with a KS4 class. Covers doppler effect and red shift. I also had students running outside pretending to be a ambulance to demonstrate the doppler effect.
Maths in Science
ls6372ls6372

Maths in Science

(0)
A lesson created for the maths department to use during science week, looking at graph work and relative formula mass. Can be used in science lessons too! Differentiated throughout. Learning Objectives: Describe what is needed to draw a graph Calculate the relative formula mass of compounds Analyse equations to work out the mass of unknown substances
New GCSE - Centre of Mass
ls6372ls6372

New GCSE - Centre of Mass

(0)
Lesson covering the centre of mass and working out the centre of mass of regular and irregular objects. Differentiated throughout and the practical involving finding the centre of mass of irregular shapes. Learning Objectives: Describe what is meant by the centre of mass of a body and how to find it Explain why objects topple over Explain how to find the centre of mass of an irregular object
Radioactive decay
ls6372ls6372

Radioactive decay

(0)
Lesson on radioactive decay, looking at alpha, beta and gamma decay. Differentiated sheets included Learning Objectives: Identify each type of radioactive decay Describe the properties of each radioactive decay Compare the differences between alpha and beta decay
GCSE Physics: Electricity
ls6372ls6372

GCSE Physics: Electricity

(0)
This GCSE revision booklet contains a selection of activities which enable students to consolidate their understanding of the topic. The resource will show students many different ways to revise for their upcoming exams. The resource is suitable for year 10 and year 11.
New GCSE - Speed
ls6372ls6372

New GCSE - Speed

(0)
Lesson looking at using the speed equation with differentiated questions throughout. I took the students outside to time themselves walking, jogging and running different distances. They then calculated their speeds back int eh classroom (you could then get them to draw a bar graph of their results as practice for drawing graphs!). Homework in this lesson is a reverse crossword (a crossword in which the students have to think what the clues would be for each word) Learning Objectives: Recall the equation and formula triangle to calculate speed Calculate distance, time and speed using the equation
Friction
ls6372ls6372

Friction

(0)
KS3 lesson on friction. Differentiated throughout and combined with the practical dragging blocks over different surfaces. Learning Objectives: Describe what friction is and how it occurs Identify uses for friction Explain why friction can be useful or a problem
Life cycle of a star
ls6372ls6372

Life cycle of a star

(0)
Lesson looking at the life cycle of a star. Could be used with many different year groups. I printed out a blank version of slide 17 for the students to fill out as I went through the stages during the lesson. Learning Objectives: Describe the life cycle of our star Explain how heavy elements are formed Explain why different stars can go through different stages in their lifetimes
Stability of objects
ls6372ls6372

Stability of objects

(0)
GCSE lesson on stability, looking at the factors that affect it. The 'practical' involved in the lesson was cello taping lego bricks to tiles and lifting them until the lego topples over. Learning Objectives: Explain why things topple over Explain the factors that affect stability
Pendulums
