11 Plus English Core Skills 11 Plus Foundation Course 11 Plus Summer Intensive Course Year 4 should be the least stressful part of the 11 Plus journey, in fact the student should only be spending 120 minutes maximum every week of doing work. Gradually the time spent on revision should increase, however it shouldn’t be labelled as a ‘chore’, make the transition as smooth as possible. In English it is important to keep on revisiting terms: grammar, punctuation, etc… It’s very easy to get quickly out of tune with SPaG. To have good creative writing skills, being able to tackle comprehension questions, verbal reasoning and more, you need to have the ‘English core skills’ Before advancing to formal English tests, it’s vital that the pupil has the knowledge and skills of basic English for the 11 Plus. English core skills is aimed to cover these topics so that the pupil can feel confident to move onto assessments. Note that this is ‘stage one’ of the foundation, so in the next stages the pupils will be introduced to ‘short’ and ‘long’ English tests. They will be prepared for this as they have gathered the skills from this book

11 Plus Year 4 Foundation Course It can be confusing knowing which 11 plus resources to start with when you are starting your prep early. This is why, after many of my tutees in year 4 never had work that was the perfect level for them, I created this set of resources. This comprehensive plan is well-rounded, structured and covers all topics to build a strong foundation in time for the real exams. I’ve used this resource with my GCSE English students studying Much Ado, covering the major themes of the play. Ideal as a revision resource, in the classroom, or as a prompt for essay questions. Containing 20 (2x10) specimen questions for Paper 1 Section B of the GCSE AQA English Language, this resource is perfect for revision, homework, assessment, or use in the classroom- especially with the limited material available from AQA. They mimic the style of the real exam and so provide as close an experience to the exam as possible. 45 minutes is advised per question- though for younger years, more time may be spent.

Macbeth Exam Questions GCSE This resource contains ten specimen exam style essay questions on Macbeth, with extracts. They lend for perfect practice in the run up to mock exams and the 2021 real GCSEs. These questions in particular mimic the AQA exam board.
