As I read this story to the children they have short intervals to do what the children in the story are doing. They end up inventing a game called La monja and el diablo in which some language can be used - either English or Spanish. Every group of children invent a different game.

Small groups of children throw a dice aiming to get 123456 in that order. When they get 1 they can colour in the boots, but only if they can name them in Spanish. For younger children, they can colour in the boots but only after they have traced over the words in Spanish.

I make a book about the shrinking puddle and read it with the children. On a sunny day we make puddles with watering cans in the yard, then we chalk around them and return to them at intervals to rechalk. This book reflects this activity and gives you Spanish language to incorporate into the activity.

I have made a wordsearch, strings of words, and gapfill lyrics to engage learners with the song and the future tense. I can&'t include the song here, but I have included guidance on where to buy it.
