4 Rhythm Games in 1
This is such a fun and colorful way to review rhythms for younger pupils! I have included 4 different activities, but you could probably expand the usage to more than that!
Activity 1: Sight reading
This is a powerpoint with 44 different rhythms using quarter notes and rests, eighth notes, and half notes. Each slide has a rhythm that can be displayed and is also played following a four-beat count-in.
Activity 2: Writing Rhythms
This activity is designed for pupils who are just beginning to write rhythms. Using the same rhythms as above, there is a printable worksheet that encourages developing 4/4 rhythms. As a bonus, students can perform their rhythms at the end!
Activity 3: Cut and Mix
Using the colorful owl rhythms, students can cut them out and re-arrange them to create a variety of different activities to support rhythm development. My students have used these cards as flashcards, as a starting point for drumming projects, and self-directed sight-reading, just to name a few!
Activity 4: Rhythm Bingo
There are 10 different bingo cards (and a blank one if you would prefer to have students write their own rhythms) included in this folder. Additionally, there is a powerpoint included that will play the rhythms for you (or a substitute teacher!) if you would prefer to walk around the classroom to support students. Students have a lot of fun playing rhythm bingo and enjoy the multiple ways to play.
I hope that you enjoy practicing rhythms!
IB Learner Profile Coloring + Reflection
In this resource, there are 10 black and white coloring sheets for students to color, one for each of the learner profile attributes. On the back on each is a very short reflection activity associated with the relevant learner profile attribute. You can use both the coloring and reflection sheets to reinforce the learner profile traits or use the coloring sheets as a mindfulness activity that can double as bright, student made displays for your classroom.
BONUS: Added speech bubbles for easy printing with phrases like “I am an Inquirer.” for an easy, colorful display board.
Happy coloring!
