Assembly complete with music & embedded videos. Assembly begins with the question ‘what is recycling’ followed by student feedback. Teacher will talk through statistics are visualised on the board about plastic waste. followed by a video which lots of students will find shocking regarding how much plastic waste there is in the sea and how the is affecting marine life. A slide on local recycling centers you could swap to be localised to your school. Slide on what you could be recycling as a student and where you could go. Finishes with prayer. Delete school banner and replace with your own logo.

Assembly complete with embedded videos and music. focus upon the impact of fighting and linking to case studies of ‘One Punch Deaths’ to discourage fighting and encourage solving problems with words. Second part of the assembly is linked with ‘guilty by association’ how students who witness bullying or fights are just as guilty as the protagonist for encouraging bullying / fights and not trying to stop it. The purpose of this lesson is to educate students on the reasons for support of the Vietnam War. The lesson focuses upon measuring public opinion of the War, Hard Hat Riots, Nixon's 'silent majority' among many other reasons supporting the Vietnam war to then apply this knowledge to a utility question. After a fun 'patriotism' starter task students will work to record all acquired knowledge on a fully resourced knowledge builder work sheet. Although not neccessarily required any school textbook could be used to support student learing and progress. All sources of evidence are included and annotated to support students along with videos which are embedded and links provided. There is also a student friendly mark scheme to be used for peer / self assessment of student answers to the assessment question.

the purpose of this lesson is to focus upon the reasons for the failure of Vietnamisation and how this led to the US eventually fully withdrawing troops from Vietnam for good. the first half of this lesson is focus around student led group work. Students will complete a series of tasks designed to: 1. Identify the reasons for the failure of Vietnamisation. 2. Focus upon categorizing these reasons. 3. forming a judgment about the most significant reason. students watch a consolidation video (embedded). Students will then have acquired enough knowledge to complete the worksheet provided. Exam Preparation: students will then be provided with an exam style question from paper 3. "How far do you agree with interpretation 1/2 about.." Students are to use this completed work sheet for support but I have also provided a 'Peep sheet' for less able learners. The purpose of this lesson is for students to debate if Nixon was right to keep the invasions of Cambodia and Lao a secret from the US public during his Vietnamisation program. This skill is linked with final 16 mark statement questions found in papers 1 /2 &3. Studentts begin though a starter task of attempting to fill in a blank map completing the names of the countries, the Ho Chi Minh Trail, Gulf of Tonkin and any cities etc. Students are introduced to the invasion of Cambodia through a short video clip of Nixon's televised explanation (embedded). The main task revolves around the teaching and learning strategy of '6 monkeys'. All explained within the resource pack attached . After assessing the impact of this invasion in 1970 students are introduced to the invasion of Laos in 1971 and how the US public reacted to the news of these invasions. Students are to complete a short 4 mark source evaluation activity linked with the Kent State Shooting protest. After these tasks and debates students will be ready to form an overall judgment regarding the initial debate question: Was Nixon right to keep the invasions of Cambodia and Laos a secret from the US population? I have included an extension video showcasing a news report of how currently the US are attempting to get Cambodia to repay for the damages caused during the invasion (video embedded).

This lesson is focused upon the changed implemented under Nixon, namely, The Nixon Doctrine & Vietnamisation. No textbook is required I have included all resources / WAGOLS / differentiated sheets / video clips etc … Lesson begins with a recap of Johnson leaving office and Nixon’s approached to the War. students study each approach to then complete a starter sheet and reflect upon the impact each one may have on the War (Positive & Negative). students are then introduced to the Nixon Doctrine where they will watch a video clip (embedded) also more video links provided in the description - students are then enabled to to explain how this may affect the war and public opinions of the war. Students are introduced to Vietnamisation though various sources and a definition (clip included to watch from YouTube). students then engage in a discussion based activity to argue how different people may interpret the process of Vietnamisation (North Vietnamese General - US General - South Vietnamese Politician - Us citizen). The rest of the lesson is based around exam practice and technique i have included sources/ interpretations / structure support / differentiated source / interpretation evaluation sheets for less able & WAGOLS for ALL of the following questions: 1. How useful are sources A and B for an enquiry into… 2. What is the main difference between the views of interpretation 1 and 2. 3. Suggest one reason why interpretations 1 and 2 give different views about the extent to which Vietnamisation was a success. WAGOLS are evaluated to show student how and where marks have been gained. further advice can be found in the description of the presentation / easily enough for more than one or two lessons.

This lesson is designed to inform students about the TET offensive in order to enable them to explain why it was a significant turning point in the War leading to US public opposition. Students then will study different interpretations of the TET to then explain why they interpret it differently. Hook starter: A Selection of images for students to study upon entrance to class encouraging them to reflect upon how they would feel if they were seeing these images on TV. Students watch a video clip (Embedded) and are supplied with contextual knowledge via the PEEP SHEET if required. Students are encouraged to explain the significance of the TET and why it led to increased public opposition. Students then apply their knowledge to an exam style question (Why do interpretations one and two have different opinions about the success of the TET). WAGOL is then provided as students peer assess. Lesson ends with a rounding up of students opinions about why the TET was a turning point. easily enough to cover more than one lesson. This Assembly is designed to enthuse students (of any year group) to take part in a 'Leadership Challenge' which can be completed over the course of a half term. Student booklet is included which once completed can be collected in by their teacher / form tutor / head of year and certificates awarded. Success Criteria: - Become a ‘lead’ learner in lesson. - Peer support. - Lead a group discussion. - Help your form run an assembly. - Help design / run a starter or plenary. - Support an after school / charity event. Assembly begins with a 'hook' clip from Peter Pan's 'Following the Leader' song (embedded). Ask students to reflect upon any leaders they can think of (a good opportunity to reflect not only on world leaders but leadership within school e.g. School Council / Head Boy / Girl). Ask students what qualities you must possess to aspire to a leadership role. A video clip is then shown (embedded) and students are encouraged to identify any leadership skills which have just been identified (either by students or from what was displayed on the Presentation). Students are then introduced to the 'Leadership Challenge', success criteria cards can already be placed upon student chairs upon entering, these can now be addressed. Finishes with a prayer about leadership and encouragement to begin the challenge!

This lesson is cantered around the various bombing raids conducted by the US in Vietnam. Pupils will access and develop this information though exam style techniques. the lesson begins with a short introduction from a documentary to set the scene of, ‘Operation Rolling Thunder’. students will use two interpretations to decide upon the main difference in views regarding this (support sheets included for less able) . I have also included a students friendly mark scheme for self /peer assessment. students will then work in groups of three to complete a worksheet categorizing the successes and failures of: 1. Operation rolling thunder. 2. Operation Cedar Falls 3. Operation Ranch hand. Students will then be provided with a choice of questions with an accompanying student friendly mark scheme to plan a 16 Mark answer which can then be completed for Homework. the lesson finishes with a judgment line activity where students can verbalize their overall judgments regarding the success of these ‘Search and Destroy’ Operations. You will require the Pearson Edexcel textbook for a section of this lesson.
