I will publish a new 20 question quiz weekly during term time; this weeks quiz was created for September 2022 week 1, however it can be used at any date as the questions are not time/season dependent. I love doing a weekly quiz with my tutor group at the end of the week on a Friday morning - so its a great activity to start in formtime as we go back to school for the start of the new academic year! NOW INCLUDED - ANSWER SHEET AND LEADERSHIP BOARD SPREADSHEET There are 20 general knowledge questions in this quiz varying from geography, history, science and world trivia. The answers are provided across 2 slides at the end of the quiz - each answer is revealed per click. I would recommend for this quiz students get into groups of no more than 4 and the activity should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete. Please keep an eye out for my weekly quizzes and review/leave feedback if possible. Also if you prefer the terminology ‘form time’ to ‘tutortime’ then I have provided an alternate title you can swap in at the side of slide 1 on the Powerpoint. Slave Capture

A well presented lesson on the capture of slaves. Students are engaged through detailed, well presented resources. For this lesson ROOTs is required. Students find an engaging way to learn about the route slave capture through classroom discussion. Students then prose their own enquiry questions about slave capture. Students watch the extract from ROOTs before and including the capture of Kunte Kinte up until his incarceration on the beach. Students then answer their own enquiry questions. Students reflect and develop their written empathy skills by writing a diary extract. Students are to focus on including both key historical terminology learnt in lesson 1 but also improve their vocabulary using some of the words provided.

This lesson has been created with KS3 secondary history students in mind and is the first lesson in my Holocaust unit of work. This lesson has been created on Microsoft Powerpoint and the accompanying student handout and worksheet has been created on Powerpoint also. . Teacher Notes & Answers have been added to the notes section underneath each relevant slide on the Powerpoint. This resource slowly introduces students to the topic of the Holocaust using skills of inference on a historical artefact and through controlled classroom discussion. Students work on a single historical artefact individually/in pairs/as a class - whichever you feel suits your class best and build a picture of a person - they then have this put into greater perspective for them. The utmost care has been taken to ensure this resource has been created with the utmost respect to the victims of the holocaust and to ensure that students have the opportunity to connect and empathise to the human beings to whom the attrocities of the holocaust were committed. There a no images or corpses in this resource - however the murder of victims is discussed. This lesson includes suggested learning objectives and outcomes and has been designed to be taught over the course of one hour. I really hope you enjoy teaching this lesson as much as I do! If you are able to leave a review once you have taught it, I would be really grateful. Looking for more Holocaust resources? This lesson has been created with KS3 secondary history students in mind and is the second lesson in my Holocaust unit of work. This lesson has been created on Microsoft Powerpoint and the accompanying student worksheets have been created on Microsoft Word and Powerpoint . Teacher Notes & Answers have been added to the notes section underneath each relevant slide on the Powerpoint. Please check these before delivering the lesson to your student. They offer excellent source analysis support for teachers new to the topic. This resource is Lesson 2 in my Holocaust scheme of work. It’s aim is to explore the ways in which the Nazi’s used propaganda and stereotyping to humiliate and discredit the Jewish race in German society. This is to help students begin to understand how the Nazis then were able to turn society against the Jewish people and other minority groups which then paved the way towards Holocaust and eventual mass murder. This lesson is very heavily focused on working on students source analysis and interpretation skills using antisemitic propaganda that was distributed by the Nazi party in German society in the 1930’s. This lesson includes suggested learning objectives and outcomes and has been designed to be taught over the course of one hour - although it may run over. The utmost care has been taken to ensure this resource has been created with the utmost respect to the victims of the holocaust and to ensure that students have the opportunity to connect and empathise to the human beings to whom the attrocities of the holocaust were committed.** There a no graphic images of corpses in this resource.** I really hope you enjoy teaching this lesson to your students as much as I do! I am a history teacher and the content of this assembly resource is an extension of a type of activity that I would deliver to my history students when teaching the holocaust. This assembly resource offers a brief exploration using skills of inference of a historical artefact and relies upon student contributions through teacher questionning. A link to a Youtube video has been provided as part of this resource (please ensure you have access to youtube prior to use) This resource also makes reference to the 2024 Holocaust Memorial Day theme of ‘Fragility of Freedom’. The utmost care has been taken to ensure this resource has been created with the utmost respect to the victims of the holocaust and to ensure that students have the opportunity to connect and empathise to the human beings to whom the attrocities of the holocaust were committed.
