This four lesson bundle starts by introducing learners to revenue, costs and profit. Each of these is broken down to the core, students will get it! Lots of calculation practice to consolidate this. A 9 mark question with a case study and model answer for students to aspire to and peer assess with.
A lesson with a game where students are in groups and must make the most profit by charging the best prices for their business, a live scoreboard to see which team is performing the best.
Break even is broken down to the core also, and again lots of calculation practice. A task to draw BE graphs, the spec doesn’t require this but it will extend their knowledge on the topic.

This lesson introduces learners to corporate influences in business, with a particular focus on short-termism vs long-termism, we start with a recap to ensure students remember CPA, then go on to look at how short term and long term views influence decision making.
We analyse evidence based and subjective decision making before looking at a concise case study on Rolls Royce and understanding what makes them a long termist business, this study can be used as a class reading task or group, with a discussion to follow. A research task and box plenary to finish with.

This lesson introduces learners to the various stakeholders and how they can conflict with shareholders priorities. We start by looking at the different types of stakeholders involved in a business, we then look at their key interests, followed by evaluating the most important interest for each stakeholders. Once students know the interests well, we can start to look at how stakeholders might conflict with each other - a few examples given here.
We read a case study on Unilever, students prepare presentations on whether they should focus on shareholders or stakeholders, this is in the form of a 20 mark question so students could answer it after the presentation, or for homework. Structure guidance and concise points that would be the main focus of the answer is provided.

This double lesson introduces learners to the two main types of inorganic growth - mergers and takeovers. We start by looking at the different types of merging with their pros and cons. Some real life examples of mergers and acqusitions that have taken place such as Facebook and Whatsapp and more. This lesson introduces learners to product design. We start by looking at each area of the design mix, with a number of relevant examples. Some class tasks to jot products down onto a design mix before looking at social trends which could influence the product design process.

This lesson introduces learners to the competitive environment in which businesses operate in, we start by looking at a list of different markets/industries, to gain an insight to the different levels of competitiveness in each. We also look at factors that determine the competitiveness of a business before identifying ways a business can compete.

This lesson introduces learners to inflation and interest rates - economic influences is quite a large topic area to cover so it is split into two parts. We start by looking at some shocking (for students) price changes in the last few decades before looking at how inflation is calculated and the implications on businesses and concumsers.
We then go onto looking at interest rates and again, implications on consumers and businesses. Two essay exam style questions included on each topic - both with structure guidance and concise model answers to help students with peer assessments.

This lesson introduces learners to market positioning, we start by looking at positioning and differenation is before looking at market maps. Students have the opportunity to become familiar with market maps with a set of structured activities to design their own, examples of different axes are given with ideas for markets to use.
We move on to read a concise case study on a hotel chain that is quite different from normal hotel chains, a 4 and 12 mark question, both with structure guidance and model answers for students to use when self or peer assessing, marking grid for the 12 marker included. We finish off with a research task on the rebranding of Emirates airline.

This lesson introduces learners to the ‘tricky at first’ concept of limited liability. We start by clarifying limited and unlimited liability, with an illustrated example before going onto an interesting and concise case study about a sole trader who failed, then started again as a LTD company - a 10 mark question with structure guidance and a concise model answer for learners to use in self/peer assessments. This double lesson introduces learners to organic growth, we start by looking at the problems of rapid growth from the previous lesson before looking at the methods of organic growth and their advantages and disadvantages. We then go on to read a short case study on a ready meal manufacturer based in Bradford, who have grown organincally since 1979. A 10 mark question on this with structure guidance and a concise model answer provided, to help students peer assess against the criteria.
This is followed by a research task for students to find a company that has grown organically (link for poundland given if students struggle to find), they then present their findings back to the class - structure for this is provided too.
We finish off with a kahoot quiz, the link is included and a box plenary.

This double lesson introduces learners to price elasticity of demand - a tricky concept at first but this resource breaks everything down step by step with plenty of calculation and essay exam practice. We start by looking at the concept of elasticity with an engaging Eastenders starter, we learn the key formulas needed to tackle any PED questions before looking at examples of some inelastic products.
Students have the opportunity to calculate PED questions with answers on the board to show how answers are reached. We then go on to look at factors that affect the price elasticity of a product and apply this theory to a Nando’s 8 mark question - structure guidance and a model answer is provided for students to look at before peer assessing and responding to WWW and EBI.

This double lesson introduces learners to what motivation is, students reflect on what motivates them. Financial and non financial methods are discussed. Two case studies, two 9 mark questions, one with guidance to help write a model answer.
I have included Maslow’s hierarchy of needs although they do not need to know this for this particular course, however it helps with understanding motivation and extend their knowledge on the topic.

The second part to economic influences introduces learners to the stages in the business cycle and how each affects businesses and consumers, we also look at different types of tax and their implcications. This lesson recaps from 1.1 aims and objectives first, we then look at the topic in more detail by considering how aims and objectives change depending on the type of business, for example a struggling business might aim for retrenchment and downsizing whereas a growing business increasing market share in foreign markets. This three lesson bundle introduces learners to gross and net profit, gross and net profit margin and how they make up the income statement. All topics are broken down so that it is very easy for students to see the logic behind calculations and for the teacher to explain.
An activity to draw up the income statement for Ian Beale’s fish and chip shop with answers to go through. Lots of calculation practice for all three topic areas with answers to self or peer assess.
The statement of financial position is slightly detailed so this could be watered down as students just need to know the basics of the balance sheet.

This set of resources includes 1x PPT, 1x set of group task cards and 1x word case study, this can be delivered over two lessons. Learners are introduced to demand and the various factors influencing demand. We look at movements in the demand curve through price first before going through each factor with relevant examples such as using Messi and Ronaldo adverts to highlight the impact on demand for football boots. We also look at how this can be shown on diagramatically on demand curves.
We then go on to ‘Walkthrough Westfield’ which is a group activity, students are given a set of factors which affect demand, and then through our virtual walkthrough we stop at different shops, students have the opportunity to dicuss and rank the factors for that particular shop (encouraging application and evaluation). Students then read a concise case study and answer an 8 mark question, structure guidance and model answer provided for peer assessments.
