How to use this resource These fun mats can be laminated and used to match the animals of the students choosing to go and live in the trees. As laminated sheets students can use them to put matching playdough apples etc in the trees, trace over the letters and match counters or playdough in the ten frames provided. With larger numbers, students can use these as a dice game and see who can fill their tree first with the exact number shown on the mat. If you are looking at the number 8 and the child throws a 2, then they know they will need to throw a 6 or any combination that adds to 6 to complete their tree. If they throw a number that is too big, then they miss a turn. These mats can be used as part of group rotations with students filling all sets of cards as an activity. Suitable for pre-school or early kindergarten students.

Use these quick writing starters to get the brain ticking over. These are best used as a timed activity with students given a short amount of time 10-15 minutes to work on their writing. No worrying about spelling, the focus of these tasks is to get the ideas flowing and down onto paper. Group sharing of ideas is an important and integral part of this process. Students may be encouraged to work further on one of these ideas. Use the dice template for a different variation of characters settings and problems with a multitude of combinations. Best printed on heavy card stock or laminated for durability.

Use these fun Halloween themed subtraction worksheets as an early finishing activity, or to practice subtraction of numbers up to 20. Activities are self correcting, as students are able to compare their finished products to see if they get the same result. Why not check out the addition bundle too,

Lateral Thinking Puzzles are a great way to start a lesson or use as a brain break. Have them on Interactive Whiteboard displayed as a classroom entry activity.
