A one-off lesson on the Crusades. This is to be taught as a ‘meanwhile elsewhere…’ theme. The context would be the medieval realms as the period of study. Students can explore what was happening on a global scale, which helps to diversify and make the year 7 curriculum more inclusive. What were the Crusades? Why did people want to go on them? What was the impact?

Motte and Bailey Castles and the development of stone castles- 2 lessons.

A 2-3 part lesson covering why the British were motivated to carry on fighting. Skills developed are source based and incorporation of own knowledge. Including an evidence pack, differentaited resources and a plan to support students, a PPT and DIRT lesson with activities on. Model answers and mark scheme included to be in line with the demands and specification of recent KS3 framework for History.

I have gone through the scheme like a fine toothed comb and made a plan for every ‘explain why’ question. A lot of the evidence in these answers will also help with the content needed for the 4 and 16 marker on this paper too.

This results in students writing an argument for and against and a judgment and self assessing it and then teacher assesing it by tick boxing criteria.
